Programming is a critical aspect of the Luminary experience—it is a way that members grow their businesses and careers and a significant way in which the community connects.

Our community is made up of leaders, managers, entrepreneurs, career pivoters, and more, at all levels and across industries who are looking to develop new skills, access great content, build their network and grow personally and professionally at Luminary. 

A successful candidate will bridge the strategic lens of programming, a relationship rich approach to collaboration, and know logistics to pull off a great program. You are passionate about programming from coming up with a new idea to running a virtual meeting/moving furniture to make sure everything is just right. You will be responsible for our strategy and implementation of learning experiences and develop a playbook, calendar and partnerships to execute Luminary’s comprehensive programming. 

You will partner closely with the Luminary team and members to ensure business relevancy, consistency, integration and quality of development programs. This is a high visibility, Member-focused, hands-on role, reporting into the CEO. Core responsibilities include: 


Program Development and Implementation

  • Oversee strategic programming development -including supporting sales and marketing growth

    • Member-led Programming

      • Work with programming intern/events team to field, develop and execute member programming

      • Provide members with tools for Luminary specific programming

    • Luminary-driven Programming

      • Design and implement programs designed to enhance members’ growth

      • Reach out and identify facilitators and presenters

      • Think strategically about how programs can drive impact, showcase the Luminary community, and increase visibility

      • Design large-scale pitch competitions

      • Develop programs that meet the needs of corporate partners and members to give their employees programs so that they can advance in the workplace

    • Fellowship Programming and Partnerships

      • Design enrichment programs for fellowship cohorts

      • Work with fellowship sponsor and other companies to produce successful events and initiatives as part of the fellowship

  • Along with Chief Impact Officer develop KPI’s for impact across programming and membership in the following areas:

    • Advance: Professional Development and Career Growth

    • Build: programs for Small Businesses/Entrepreneurs

    • Connect: Community Building

    • Develop: Personal & Wellness events 

  • Collaborate with events/social team on all programming logistics

  • Research, connect and develop strategic partnerships applicable to thought leadership, content and membership growth with Affiliate Partners and Content Partners (CEO to maintain relationships with public-private partnerships (WE & Women.nyc)) 

  • Participate in the development of new offerings, toolkits, publications or knowledge

  • Identify additional opportunities for content development in service of emerging member and community needs

  • Oversee the publication and production of programming calendar

  • Front of the house for events 

Data and Metrics

  • Programming Data and Metrics 

    • Measure output of number of programs and Utilize data to adjust programming

      • Utilize data to drive change in community and programming 

    • Drive membership and highlight our diverse community 

      • Collaborate with social/marketing to visual for growth

Thought-leadership and External Visibility

  • Partner with Chief Impact Officer, CEO and PR on involvement with external conferences and thought leadership opportunities



  • Programming or Learning and Development Experience

  • Start-up experience a plus

  • Demonstrate integrity, dependability, responsibility, accountability, self-awareness, work ethic, and empathy 

  • Passion and understanding for Luminary's mission and values 

  • Must be able to work part or full-time in New York 

  • Legally eligible to work in the United States 

  • Consulting, coaching and facilitation skills that leave people wanting to work with you again and again

  • Strong program management

  • Understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion

  • Collaborate approach in a lean environment

  • Comfort in facilitating, hosting, and talking in front of large and small audiences in real life and in online events
