SUMMARY: WEConnect International has been growing steadily in Africa and is now seeking to dramatically accelerate growth. For this reason, we are restructuring our Nigeria activities to be based out of Lagos where most of our potential clients are based.  In support of the transition the Nigeria Market Advisor will provide strategic market guidance, business development, partnership collaboration, and thought leadership. The contractor will provide services and associated deliverables in accordance with WEConnect International standards and procedures, and policies and contribute to the mission by performing the following services:
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Market Advisor is a contractor for WEConnect International who supports the advancement of the organization’s mission in that market. The Market Advisor serves as the liaison with women-owned businesses and key stakeholders such as members, local corporations, business support organizations, government agencies and other organizations, groups, or individuals, to promote and enable more business opportunities for women-owned businesses.

To achieve the purpose of this role, a market advisor is expected to fulfill the following functions.
 
General Activities
 
  1. Provide WEConnect International with local knowledge to design a growth plan for impact in Nigeria in line with WEConnect International’s Global Strategy.
  2. Provide a project plan that details activities and related expected outputs and outcomes to achieve the deliverables in the contract.
  3. Submit an activity/outcomes report each month with the monthly invoice using the template provided by WEConnect International.
 
Growing the Network
  1. Provide and implement a communications and marketing plan for the market in collaboration with WEConnect International; abide by WEConnect International Brand Guidelines and Social Media Guidelines. 
  2. Develop and implement campaigns and other activities that encourage qualified Women-Owned Businesses (WOBs) in the market to Register, Certify and Renew on the WECommunity platform.
  3. Work in collaboration with the Certification and customer service teams, and assessor(s) to actively support the certification and renewal application process.
  4. Provide support to WOBs that are Registered and Certified, to successfully activate their supplier accounts and enter effective profiles on the WECommunity platform. 
  5. Provide business and trade support to Certified Women Business Enterprises (WBEs),including with updating their WECommunity profiles and creating compelling Capability Statements.
  6. Liaison with Member Buyers and identify their supplier diversity needs and become familiar with their procurement processes.   Support the Regional Director with Advisory Councils and Member Meetings.  
  7. Identify and recruit qualified local and regional Africa Member Buyers.
  8. Support the development and stewardship of strategic partnerships for fundraising opportunities to set up co-sponsored outreach, training, and business connection events.
 
Events & Projects
  1. Finalize an Ecosystem Mapping for Nigeria using the template provided by WEConnect International.
  2. Create opportunities for Member Buyers and WBEs, and between WOBs in the network, to promote business matches/spend and foster opportunities that advisor to contracts/success stories.  This includes, but is not limited to sharing RFPs on WECommunity, and organizing, networking, business connections events. 
  3. Organize and conduct capacity building and training sessions for WOBs, WBEs and Member Buyers, and administer evaluation forms and surveys.
  4. Support planning for the Africa Regional Conference, with event management, proposing speakers & partners, recruiting potential Members Buyers, recruiting WOBs, upselling Certification, and making business connections. 
  5. Support, as requested, the implementation of Special Projects from grants to WEConnect International with the goal to increase the market deliverables. 

Administration & Policies
  1. Develop and maintain institutional knowledge on WECommunity, as well as the registration and certification processes, and attend a training by the Certification Team.
  2. Uphold and support WEConnect International Registration and Certification Standards, Governance and Processes.
  3. Use SharePoint as the primary means of saving, storing, sharing, and collaborating on documents and all work products for WEConnect International.
  4. Allow and assist WEConnect International, if required, to inspect any accounts, records and other documents relating to the submission of proposals and contract performance, and to have them audited as may be required by funding sources.
  5. Contractor must adhere to all WEConnect International policies that are applicable to contractors. Policies will be provided in writing.
