Client Information: 

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Division of HIV Prevention (DHP) focus on high impact prevention of HIV—by preventing new HIV infections, improving health outcomes for persons with HIV, and reducing HIV related disparities and health inequities.   

DHP develops and maintains a variety of data and information systems to support its mission, including systems to collect, transmit, store, and analyze data for HIV/AIDS surveillance, epidemiology, and program monitoring and evaluation. We are looking for IT and public health partners including statisticians, researchers, behavioral scientists, computer scientists, public health advisors/analysts, budget analysts, and other program staff. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide second-level support for IT operations, addressing more complex issues escalated by Tier I analysts. 
  • Monitor and manage IT systems to ensure optimal performance and uptime, performing routine maintenance and updates as needed. 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to software, hardware, and network systems. 
  • Collaborate with Tier III Ops Analysts and other IT staff to diagnose and resolve complex problems. 
  • Document incidents, maintain logs of issues and resolutions, and contribute to the knowledge base for use by other team members and future training. 

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. A bachelor’s degree is preferred. 
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in IT operations or help desk support, with a focus on problem resolution and system maintenance. 
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve a range of technical issues, including network connectivity, application errors, and hardware malfunctions. 
  • ​​​​​​​Experience with monitoring tools and software, and an understanding of IT infrastructure components such as servers, networks, and databases. 

Preferred: 

  • Experience in a regulated environment, such as public health or government IT systems, with an understanding of compliance standards. 
  • Previous experience working with enterprise-level IT systems and cloud-based infrastructures. 
  • CompTIA Network+ or Security+. 
  • ​​​​​​​Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
