Client Information: 

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Division of HIV Prevention (DHP) focus on high impact prevention of HIV—by preventing new HIV infections, improving health outcomes for persons with HIV, and reducing HIV related disparities and health inequities.   

DHP develops and maintains a variety of data and information systems to support its mission, including systems to collect, transmit, store, and analyze data for HIV/AIDS surveillance, epidemiology, and program monitoring and evaluation. We are looking for IT and public health partners including statisticians, researchers, behavioral scientists, computer scientists, public health advisors/analysts, budget analysts, and other program staff. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead the quality assurance (QA) team in developing, implementing, and maintaining procedures to ensure the quality of software and systems throughout the development lifecycle. 
  • Design and execute test plans and test cases for complex health IT systems to ensure they meet organizational standards and user requirements. 
  • Utilize advanced automated testing tools and frameworks to streamline testing processes and increase the efficiency and coverage of testing. 
  • Analyze test results, identify critical issues, and work closely with development teams to ensure timely resolution of problems. 
  • Mentor junior quality engineers and QA team members, providing guidance and training to enhance their skills and knowledge. 
  • Continuously evaluate and recommend new testing technologies and strategies to improve the QA process and product reliability. 

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field. 
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in software quality assurance, with a strong background in testing methodologies, tools, and processes. 
  • Proven track record of managing and executing software testing projects, including both manual and automated testing. 
  • Experience with major automation tools like Selenium, TestComplete, QTP, or similar, as well as with continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD) environments. 
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with performance and/or security testing are preferable. 

Preferred: 

  • Experience in healthcare, public health, or government IT projects, particularly those involving complex data and compliance requirements. 
  • Leadership experience with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and projects. 
  • Certified Software Quality Engineer (CSQE) from the American Society for Quality (ASQ). 
  • ​​​​​​​ISTQB Advanced Level certification or equivalent.
