Client Information: 

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Division of HIV Prevention (DHP) focus on high impact prevention of HIV—by preventing new HIV infections, improving health outcomes for persons with HIV, and reducing HIV related disparities and health inequities.   

DHP develops and maintains a variety of data and information systems to support its mission, including systems to collect, transmit, store, and analyze data for HIV/AIDS surveillance, epidemiology, and program monitoring and evaluation. We are looking for IT and public health partners including statisticians, researchers, behavioral scientists, computer scientists, public health advisors/analysts, budget analysts, and other program staff. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis on public health issues related to HIV/AIDS, utilizing statistical and data analysis tools to derive insights that inform policy and program decisions. 
  • Develop and implement research methodologies, surveys, and studies to collect reliable data on disease trends, risk factors, and outcomes. 
  • Collaborate with epidemiologists, biostatisticians, and public health officials to design and evaluate interventions aimed at disease prevention and control. 
  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences to disseminate knowledge and best practices. 
  • Engage with community stakeholders and public health partners to gather insights and promote public health initiatives. 
  • Contribute to grant writing and funding proposals to secure resources for ongoing and new research projects. 

Minimum Requirements: 

  • PhD or Master’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or a related field. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in public health research with a strong focus on infectious diseases, preferably HIV/AIDS. 
  • Demonstrated ability to use quantitative and qualitative research methods effectively. 
  • Proven track record of published research and contributions to the public health field. 

Preferred: 

  • Experience working within government health agencies or major health organizations. 
  • Involvement in large-scale public health studies and interventions. 
  • Certification in Public Health (CPH) or similar credentials that validate expertise in public health research.
