Client Information: 

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Division of HIV Prevention (DHP) focus on high impact prevention of HIV—by preventing new HIV infections, improving health outcomes for persons with HIV, and reducing HIV related disparities and health inequities.   

DHP develops and maintains a variety of data and information systems to support its mission, including systems to collect, transmit, store, and analyze data for HIV/AIDS surveillance, epidemiology, and program monitoring and evaluation. We are looking for IT and public health partners including statisticians, researchers, behavioral scientists, computer scientists, public health advisors/analysts, budget analysts, and other program staff. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Design and produce compelling, visually appealing graphic content for a variety of media including web, print, and digital platforms within the CDC’s DHAP.  
  • Collaborate closely with the communications team to create graphic designs that effectively communicate public health messages and initiatives.  
  • Manage multiple design projects from concept through completion, ensuring adherence to deadlines and branding guidelines.  
  • Use graphic design software and tools to create visual elements such as logos, original images, and illustrations that help deliver desired messages.  
  • Review final layouts and suggest improvements when necessary, and provide expertise in the selection of color, type, illustration, photography, animation, and various print and layout techniques. 

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field. 
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional graphic design experience, preferably within a healthcare, public health, or government setting. 
  • Strong portfolio of work that demonstrates expertise in graphic design and visual communication. 
  • Proficiency in graphic design software including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and familiarity with HTML and CSS. 

Preferred: 

  • Experience designing for web and mobile platforms, with an understanding of design principles related to user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design. 
  • Background in working on educational or public awareness campaigns, particularly in the health sector.
  • Certification in Adobe Creative Suite or other relevant graphic design software.
