OVERVIEW

Fortress Building Products is looking for a qualified intern to join our Specifications team. As part of our Channel Sales organization, the Specifications team works with architects, engineers, and contractors to specify the use of our products in building projects globally.

As the Specifications Intern, you will have the opportunity to participate in various stages of project design, specification, and approval. You’ll will be responsible for the creation and modification of product drawings to provide design solutions in collaboration with Product Managers and Sales Engineers. You’ll interact with a variety of internal and external partners to translate a concept into a finished design. Additionally, you will assist in the preparation of installation manuals and perform competitor product analysis. You will finish the internship having gained broad experience in various aspects of architectural marketing.

The ideal candidate for this role must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, team environment. To be considered, you must currently be enrolled in and pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Construction Science, Engineering, or CAD related field. Candidates must be based in the Dallas area and able to work a minimum of 20 hours per week at our office in Garland, TX.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist in the creation and modification of product drawings
  • Assist with locating projects on commercial construction reporting services
  • Assist in project assessment and takeoffs
  • Assist in creation of project quotes
  • Maintain tracking report of projects in quotation
  • Seek and analyze competitor marketing materials
  • Create competitor product comparisons

Education/Experience/Additional Requirements

  • Must be an undergraduate student in the Dallas area and currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Construction Science, Engineering, or CAD related field
  • CAD proficiency required (Solidworks, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Inventor) / BIM software - Revit
  • Understanding of architectural drawings and blueprints
  • Desire to learn integration of drawings and specifications into projects
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Passion for teamwork
  • Ambition for learning
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work a minimum of 20 hours per week in Garland office
