Benaiah Consulting Group has recently partnered with a rapidly-expanding multi-million dollar retail and wholesale distributor located in the heart of East Texas, consistently rated as one of America's Best Places to Work and is looking to expand their current operation. Our client has recently created a new role for a Tax Director within their corporate accounting team. Our client is looking for a diamond in the rough that will partner with the VP-Tax and Chief Accounting Officer on building out a world-class tax organization that will focus on both tactical and strategic tax initiatives to limit the corporation's tax exposure through this growth phase.

Our client is seeking a professional that can manage:

  • Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the tax function and staff  
  • Setting the vision and direction for the tax department (consistent with broader organization directives)
  • Leading tax research, planning, and special projects
  • Leading the tax provision process and ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards and controls
  • Communicating with business units and remaining fully integrated into the overall business operations
  • Communicating and resolving tax matters with the support of the CAO and other senior leadership
  • Ensuring the tax department is adding value to the organization and integrated into its operations
  • Delivering key work plan activities related to: Transactional, Accounting for Income Taxes, Uncertain Tax Positions and Tax Department Operations

To succeed in this role, our client is seeking a candidate that possesses:

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting  
  • CPA designation REQUIRED
  • 5+ years of experience in public accounting with a Big 4 or other Top 50-100 National CPA firm
  • Diversified corporate tax experience spanning financial reporting, income tax compliance, indirect tax
  • Must be experienced in leading tax activities and thought leadership in a fast-growth business
  • Ability to communicate and partner with all levels of the organization including key external stakeholders
  • Work with different stakeholders to gather business requirements or needs around federal, state and owner timelines
  • Partner with all Finance Areas including Legal
  • Coordinate acquisition business tax integration efforts
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience managing a team and/or third-party advisor relationships
  • Wholesale/Distribution/Retail industry experience A HUGE PLUS!
  • Experience with Oracle or SAP helpful
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
