Job Summary

Ensures the safety, potency and purity of all products collected, by making certain that all work completed is in full compliance with departmental and organizational policies. In accordance with organizations Standards of Excellence, WE CARE principles, performs assigned duties at sites to meet the high standards of the organization. Assists with the rescheduling and retention of donors, through outstanding customer service and care. Ensures the confidentiality of all work related information concerning a donor, patient, research participant, the organization, other employees and volunteers.

Responsibilities

Consistently ensures all quality and safety standards are met.
Actively discusses with management any ideas which may promote the development and well-being of the organization.
Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, is responsible for:

Donor safety and the safety, potency and purity of all products collected.
Adverse reactions / complications, for those procedures in which trained and assisting with the management and documentation of such events, as directed and within sphere of competence. Activating the EMS system as appropriate / directed.
Updating the Registered Nurse / Team Leader /Donor Operations Supervisor/ Manager as necessary and following SOP. 

Actively supports organizational strategic goals and donor, marketing and staff recognition and retention programs. 
Follows the Daily Collection Plan, converts to automated collections as required and works towards goal by optimizing collections and actively rescheduling donors. 
Supports and complies with organizational affirmative action policy.
Performs all duties in a professional manner, always projecting a positive role model image.
Maintains an awareness of legal implications of all work being performed. 
Reviews and completes Safety, cGMP, competency requirements, assignments, SOPs, memos, and other assigned tasks in a timely manner.
Complies with SOP and performs all assigned activities and maintains competency for areas in which they are trained. 
Maintains open communication channels and communicates effectively and professionally. Checks company email at least once per day when on duty. 
Maintains professional growth and development; increases job knowledge through continuing education via in-service meetings, NCW Education Days, etc. and reviews current literature to further strengthen working knowledge and a solid industry background and to keep abreast of latest trends in the field.
May need to drive company vehicles, for which they are licensed, as directed. 

Loads, unloads and sets up equipment, signage, banners and supplies and ensures all required items are on hand.

Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Physical Requirements

Light to medium lifting required, up to 45 lbs., seeking assistance and using provided equipment, such as cart, lift gate, etc., when necessary / indicated.
Perform body motions such as; keyboard data input, bending, kneeling, crouching, stooping, twisting, stretching, reaching, climbing, lifting, pushing, pulling, grasping and gripping in the ergonomically correct manner.
Ability to climb steps on bloodmobiles.
Ability to walk, stand or sit for extended periods of time without a significant rest period.
Ability to work often in small, cramped or confined spaces.
Ability to assist with lifting and moving of donors.
Ability to use equipment that requires a high degree of dexterity.
Ability to communicate clearly.

 
Qualifications

High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
Medical Assistant or Phlebotomy Certification preferred but not essential
Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred

You will build relationships with new and existing company blood drives, or individuals, to create excitement and passion for blood donation within your territory. Your role will include prospecting and coordinating with appropriate departments to ensure a positive account and blood donor experience. Once blood drives are booked, your role will be to provide strategic and collaborative solutions to accounts to help them achieve their goals, as well as manage logistics for the drive itself.

Responsibilities

Build and manage a territory pipeline to meet blood collection goals 
Prospect and secure new blood drive accounts while growing existing partnerships 
Coordinate blood drive logistics and ensure a positive donor experience
Build and manage a territory pipeline to meet blood collection goals
Review reports detailing activities, blood collections volume, and expenses in order to make best decisions related to blood drive accounts and staffing constraints
Attend networking events and provide effective informational presentations in the community
 Maintain accurate reports, files, and pertinent information on accounts
Communicate effectively with clients and internal partners
Work and educate companies, community groups, clubs and organizations on blood donation, research or both
Identify and target some potential accounts based on diversity needs
Meet specific weekly recruitment lead generation goals based on program goals for underrepresented populations in research
Responsible for developing strategies to maximize the potential of new and current individual territories to book blood and or research collections and meet set goal
Take part in regular accounts reviews with the department manager
Participates in special projects as directed by the Director, Recruitment
Represent SDBB in a professional manner in dress, demeanor and speech
Perform other related duties assigned or requested

 
Qualifications
Education:

Four-year accredited college degree preferred

Experience:

Two to three years relevant work experience preferred

JOB SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of the Manager of Hospital Services, in accordance with published procedures, following all appropriate state and federal laws and regulations and accreditation standards the Hospital Services Representative (HSR) assists in coordinating the daily distribution of blood and blood components and transporting blood and blood components to and from various locations (e.g., hospitals, satellite centers, mobiles). The HSR assists with general inventory management and is one of the main points of contact between the hospital blood banks and the San Diego Blood Bank. The HSR is also required to adhere to current good manufacturing practices. 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES

Upholds and demonstrates the San Diego Blood Bank&rsquo;s Service Excellence Standards.
Maintains a neat, clean, and organized work area. 
Receives and fills orders for blood and blood components from hospitals.
Directs the activities of the route drivers, contract couriers and any other personnel assigned to perform logistical support for the San Diego Blood Bank.
Maintains an excellent driving record. If an emergent need arises, HSR is required to deliver blood products, equipment or supplies to hospitals if no other resources are available. 
Responsible for receiving blood product orders from hospitals and determining what can be filled and communicating to the hospital what blood products will be shipped to them. 
Ensures timely communication with San Diego Blood Bank laboratory department team members regarding critically needed blood products. 
Handles the daily coordination of interdepartmental mail, transport of San Diego Blood Bank computer equipment and important documents for all San Diego Blood Bank and Southern California Blood Bank facilities. This includes unforeseen items needing immediate transport. 
Adheres to hospital policies and procedures when delivering blood, supplies, equipment and other items to their facility(ies).
Ensures the safe handling and transporting of blood and blood components. 
Ensures that appropriate action is taken when notified of security breaches at San Diego Blood Bank facilities. 
Understands and adheres to the policies, procedures and standards developed as part of the San Diego Blood Bank Compliance Program.
Communicates important information to HS Management team and coworkers using the Shift report and verbal communication with team members. 
Performs other duties as assigned or directed.

 
INVENTORY MANAGEMENT

Imports and exports blood and blood components to / from hospitals and blood banks outside of San Diego Blood Bank&rsquo;s normal service areas. Verifies all products meet transport temperature and regulatory requirements.
Maintains competency using Fed Ex, UPS, MNX, etc. and private courier companies&rsquo; software to arrange for pick up and shipment of products.
Meets daily with San Diego Blood Bank Product Inventory Manager to determine hospital needs versus inventory availability.
Evaluates inventory reports such as Platelet Management, RBC Management, Frozen Management, Cryo Management, and Blood Components Available for Export to assist with determining how best to use available inventory.
Ensures that blood and blood components in &ldquo;Available Inventory&rdquo; are properly stored, maintained, organized, and inventoried. 
Monitors hospital customers&rsquo; needs using the San Diego Blood Bank Electronic Dashboard Inventory system.
Coordinates transferring of blood and blood components between hospital sites when emergency hospital needs arise.

 
INTERDEPARTMENTAL SUPPORT- CROSS TRAINING 

Performs irradiation, modification, and labeling of blood and blood components using an X-Ray Irradiator.
Handles shipping and pickups for special blood and blood components product orders initiated by the Components Production Laboratory, Immunohematology Reference Laboratory (IRL) and the Research Products and Services (RPS) Department.
Determines which antigen negative RBC IRL orders are shipped to hospitals when IRL staff are not available. 
Assists in maintaining the accuracy of IRL inventories stored in Hospital Services.
Performs weekly inventory of IRL units stored at HS2.
Handles after hour Bac-T alarms for platelet components. Perform investigation, quarantine, and return of involved blood products from hospitals. 
Coordinates logistical support for University of California Health Milk Bank deliveries to NICU hospital partners.
Calculates shipment costs, creates shipping invoice, and ships blood and blood component products for the RPS Department.
Completes billing correction procedures when required to assist with accurate invoicing.
Investigates and resolves billing issues as requested by San Diego Blood Bank Business Office.

 
QUALITY ASSURANCE

Follows and maintains competency on OSHA, FDA, AABB, CAP, and DOT laws, regulations, standards, and guidelines that pertain to   activities performed by Hospital Services. 
Maintains and completes applicable paperwork, checklists, and logs including but not limited to RPS Orders, Courier Statistics, Blood Component Temperature Verification, and Irradiation.
Maintains competency with various software programs used by SDBB.
Performs filing / digital scanning of Hospital Services documents.
Performs final check of regulated documents in Hospital Services.
Monitors REES Temperature Monitoring System for all San Diego Blood Bank storage units.
Investigates temperature monitoring events for all San Diego Blood Bank departments and takes appropriate action as described in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Initiate Quality Incident Reports (QIR) when necessary, obtaining all supporting documents needed and ensuring these are attached to the QIR.
Handles blood product recalls. Responsible for providing requesting organization with final status of involved blood components and with the return of blood components if possible. Provides information to Quality Assurance and Compliance Department on outcome of each recall. 
Performs blood inventory audits on a regularly scheduled basis to ensure blood product inventory reports are accurate and all products are accounted for.

 
WORKING ENVIRONMENT

 Distribution / warehouse environment. 
Must be able to work in variable temperature environments which include walk-in refrigerators and freezers.
Laboratory and medical environments.
Extensive interactions with employees, customers, and the public.

 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 Medium to heavy lifting required, up to 50 lbs. 
Standing, sitting, bending, pushing, pulling is required.  
Must be able to climb in and out of various San Diego Blood Bank vehicles.

Education:

High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.

 
Certifications/Licenses:

Experience:

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Operating Systems and MS Office Software (MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Teams) is preferred.

Promote internal & external customer service excellence. Work cooperatively with other departments to achieve the organization&rsquo;s overall goals and support the image of the organization within the community. Ensure the confidentiality of all work-related information concerning a donor or patient, the organization, other employees and volunteers.
 
 Responsibilities 

Oversee daily NCW and other activities of the assigned fixed site/mobiles and use Daily Collection Plan. Support and align Team Leader and staff, to meet strategic goals. This will be achieved by on-site, and mobiles visit.
Regularly report to assigned Director/Senior Manager, NCW, with recommendations on major problems, anticipated or encountered, suggested improvements, and on achievements in matters related to NCW or otherwise.
Direct and manage employees on a day-to-day basis and support by interpreting and supporting changes, and explaining policies and procedures, answering questions and making constructive suggestions.
Mentor, coach, develop and empower all staff. Act as role model and resource and assist others in problem solving.
Be proactive in the resolution of complaints and work-related problems involving staff members and donors, responding to issues promptly, with timely follow-up.
Conduct regular staff meetings, email all reporting staff and NCW Administration detailed meeting minutes.
Participate in donor recruitment, automated conversion, and donor rescheduling, with a focus on customer service to support and build a satisfied and loyal donor base.
Support the image of the organization within the community.
Responsibility for own means of transportation, allowing for ready & timely travel to any other site or location at short notice.
Oversee QC, PM and general maintenance of collection equipment at the assigned fixed site/mobiles.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (Job Summary)
Under minimal supervision and direction of a Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Quality control Lab Technicians perform manufacturing processes in a highly regulated environment&mdash;from receipt of unprocessed apheresis platelets, through maintaining accurate records of finished components in preparation to distribute to available inventory. The QC lab technicians test products across the three stages of production (before, in-process, and final) to ensure the high quality and maximum efficacy of blood components.
 
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE (Key Responsibilities)

Perform essential laboratory responsibilities according to established procedures.
Support the SDBB safety, GMP and Quality Plan.  Adheres to GMP guidelines. 
Safely operate laboratory equipment in accordance with established SOPs
Obtain samples for product QC testing and further manufacturing
Perform donor and product quality control evaluations
Perform sterility testing on apheresis platelets and operate Bact/ALERT instrument
Perform pathogen reduction process using illuminator instrument
Operate Hematology analyzer to manufacture platelets using large volume delayed sampling and pathogen reduction methods.
Perform pH analysis using pH Meters
Perform residual WBC testing using Fluorescence Microscopy method
Perform routine equipment QC and maintenance.
Evaluate, gather data, trend, and assess results
Assist in training new personnel and other staff members. 
Assist in laboratory paperwork documenting information accurately and completely in a timely manner.
Complete all tests required for each product

Must be able to stand or sit long hours.

General office equipment (computer, printer, fax, copy machine).
Various software systems (Blood Establishment Computer System, Quality Management System)
Laboratory equipment, including, but not limited to:
Centrifuges.
Heat sealers.
Scales.
Refrigerators/incubators.
Sterile Connection Devices.
BacT/ALERT 3D analyzer.
Hematology cell counter.
Illuminators.
ADAM rWBC analyzer.
pH Meter.

Education:

Bachelor of Science Degree required.

Job Summary

Ensures the safety, potency and purity of all products collected, by making certain that all work completed is in full compliance with departmental and organizational policies. In accordance with organizations Standards of Excellence, WE CARE principles, performs assigned duties at sites to meet the high standards of the organization. Assists with the rescheduling and retention of donors, through outstanding customer service and care. Ensures the confidentiality of all work related information concerning a donor, patient, research participant, the organization, other employees and volunteers.

Responsibilities

Consistently ensures all quality and safety standards are met.
Actively discusses with management any ideas which may promote the development and well-being of the organization.
Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, is responsible for:

Donor safety and the safety, potency and purity of all products collected.
Adverse reactions / complications, for those procedures in which trained and assisting with the management and documentation of such events, as directed and within sphere of competence. Activating the EMS system as appropriate / directed.
Updating the Registered Nurse / Team Leader /Donor Operations Supervisor/ Manager as necessary and following SOP. 

Actively supports organizational strategic goals and donor, marketing and staff recognition and retention programs. 
Follows the Daily Collection Plan, converts to automated collections as required and works towards goal by optimizing collections and actively rescheduling donors. 
Supports and complies with organizational affirmative action policy.
Performs all duties in a professional manner, always projecting a positive role model image.
Maintains an awareness of legal implications of all work being performed. 
Reviews and completes Safety, cGMP, competency requirements, assignments, SOPs, memos, and other assigned tasks in a timely manner.
Complies with SOP and performs all assigned activities and maintains competency for areas in which they are trained. 
Maintains open communication channels and communicates effectively and professionally. Checks company email at least once per day when on duty. 
Maintains professional growth and development; increases job knowledge through continuing education via in-service meetings, NCW Education Days, etc. and reviews current literature to further strengthen working knowledge and a solid industry background and to keep abreast of latest trends in the field.
May need to drive company vehicles, for which they are licensed, as directed. 

Loads, unloads and sets up equipment, signage, banners and supplies and ensures all required items are on hand.

Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Physical Requirements

Light to medium lifting required, up to 45 lbs., seeking assistance and using provided equipment, such as cart, lift gate, etc., when necessary / indicated.
Perform body motions such as; keyboard data input, bending, kneeling, crouching, stooping, twisting, stretching, reaching, climbing, lifting, pushing, pulling, grasping and gripping in the ergonomically correct manner.
Ability to climb steps on bloodmobiles.
Ability to walk, stand or sit for extended periods of time without a significant rest period.
Ability to work often in small, cramped or confined spaces.
Ability to assist with lifting and moving of donors.
Ability to use equipment that requires a high degree of dexterity.
Ability to communicate clearly.

 
Qualifications

High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
Medical Assistant or Phlebotomy Certification preferred but not essential
