$24–$27 per hour Full-Time Field Leadership Medfield, MA Ecological Landscape Care
Build a real career in ecological landscape care, not just another seasonal job.
At The Garden Continuum, Inc., we design, build, and care for landscapes through our Life-Scape Method™. We are looking for a developing Landscape Gardening Crew Leader who wants to grow as a skilled horticultural professional, lead a small team, and become part of a company that builds leaders intentionally.
This role is a growth position. We build crew leadership through a clear pathway: learn to garden, learn to be a professional, learn to assist a leader, learn to lead, then learn to lead other leaders while mentoring people coming up behind you.
This is not mow-and-blow maintenance. This is thoughtful, high-quality landscape gardening for clients who care about their land.
Is this you?
If you care about plants, soil, quality, people, and doing work the right way, this may be a strong fit. You do not need to already be a fully finished leader, but you do need to be coachable, reliable, respectful, and serious about growing.
You may thrive here if you:

Love working outdoors and take pride in visible progress.

Want to become a better gardener and a better professional every season.

Like teaching others and helping a small team improve.

Can communicate clearly with coworkers and clients.

Stay calm and useful when weather, schedules, or site conditions change.

Believe systems, safety, and communication make the work better.

The work
As a Landscape Gardening Crew Leader, you guide a small field crew through daily property care and landscape gardening work. You set the tone for safety, quality, pace, communication, and professionalism.
You will lead fine gardening, pruning, weeding, planting, mulching, soil care, seasonal landscape care, site cleanup, client communication, and daily reporting. You will also help train apprentices and developing team members so the crew gets stronger over time.
A great day in this role means your crew knows the plan, the property looks better than when you arrived, the client feels cared for, the notes are clear, and everyone goes home safe.
What success looks like

The crew develops and works coherently. People understand the plan, receive useful coaching, and work with respect and focus.

TGC production and safety standards are followed. Morning prep, midday resets, end-of-day closeout, PPE, vehicle checks, and safe field practices are treated as part of the work, not extras.

Quality is protected on site and in the paperwork. Work is checked before leaving, reports are complete, photos and notes are useful, and client communication is clean and professional.

Where it goes
This is a growth role. As your skill, professionalism, leadership, mentoring, and results increase, the path can move toward stronger crew leadership, senior crew leadership, field training, horticultural specialty leadership, or broader operations leadership as the company grows and the business need is there.
We do not promote people just because they have been here a long time. We grow people through skill, trust, coachability, and results.
Why The Garden Continuum
TGC is built around Nature, People, Systems, Education, and Fun. In the field, that means we care about ecological stewardship, respectful client relationships, accountable daily systems, continuous learning, and pride in the work. We are building a disciplined, team-led company where strong people can grow beyond one role.
What we provide

Competitive pay based on experience and capability: $24–$27 per hour for entry-level and developing Crew Leaders

90-day and 180-day performance reviews

Opportunities to earn more as your skills and leadership grow

Health, dental, and vision options

401(k) with company match

Life and disability insurance

FSA/HSA options

Paid time off, holidays, and sick time

Uniform and tool reimbursement

Cell phone stipend

Support for professional certifications and continued learning

Employee referral incentives

A company that intentionally builds leadership through an apprentice pathway

This isn’t for you if…

You do not want feedback or coaching.

You are unreliable about attendance, preparation, or communication.

You talk around problems instead of communicating clearly and respectfully.

You cut corners on safety, quality, reporting, tools, or client care when the day gets busy.

You want a title without the responsibility of developing people.

How to apply
Send your resume and a short note about why ecological landscape care and field leadership matter to you. We will review your application and respond as quickly as possible.
