Why You’ll Love Working Here
At Cenmed, we’re more than a distributor — we are a strategic partner delivering integrated solutions across laboratory supply, asset management, kitting and technical services. We support healthcare systems, research institutions, and clinical environments nationwide with innovative programs and high-quality service delivery.
We foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement, where high performers are recognized and given opportunities to grow. If you thrive in an environment where you can drive programs, influence outcomes, and build scalable service solutions, Cenmed offers the platform to do it.
What We’re About
Cenmed is built on collaboration, innovation, and execution. Our success comes from developing strong, solution-oriented teams that solve complex customer challenges. As an integrated provider of laboratory supplies, specialized services, and internally developed solutions, we are seeking a technically-minded program leader who can bridge operations, vendors, and service delivery to ensure consistent, high-quality outcomes.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading medical and laboratory supply and services company at our headquarters in New Brunswick and play a key role in scaling our Kitting programs.
Who You Are
You are a proactive, organized, and technically capable professional who thrives in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment. You take ownership of your programs, anticipate challenges before they arise, and drive execution with a strong sense of urgency and accountability.
You are comfortable working cross-functionally, managing vendors, and validating technical work, while maintaining a high standard of quality and customer satisfaction. If you are someone who brings structure, discipline, and continuous improvement to everything you do, this role is built for you.
What You will Do
Cenmed Enterprises is seeking an experienced, hands-on Supply Chain & Distribution Manager to oversee daily warehouse operations, inbound and outbound logistics, purchasing, and supplier coordination.
The primary responsibility is to deliver an exceptional customer experience through perfect-order delivery: orders delivered on time, complete, accurate, damage-free, and with the required documentation. This leader will manage a small team, maintain inventory accuracy, improve operational efficiency, and proactively resolve supply and delivery issues.
The successful candidate will understand the different service expectations and urgency of B2B and B2C customers, including customer-specific delivery requirements, continuity of supply, responsive parcel fulfillment, shipment visibility, and returns.
This role also oversees purchasing execution, supplier performance, and identification of alternative domestic sources. Working closely with the COO and executive leadership, the manager will negotiate routine pricing and service improvements within established approval guidelines and support broader sourcing initiatives and supplier agreements.
We are looking for a practical leader who develops people, brings structure to daily execution, and delivers measurable improvements in customer service, cost, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Distribution & Warehouse Operations
· Lead daily receiving, inspection, put-away, storage, picking, packing, shipping, and returns activities.
· Plan staffing, assign work, and coordinate order priorities to meet customer commitments and shipping cutoffs.
· Ensure order accuracy, appropriate packaging, complete documentation, and timely shipment.
· Maintain inventory accuracy through disciplined ERP transactions, cycle counts, physical inventories, and resolution of discrepancies.
· Improve warehouse layout, product placement, workflows, and space utilization.
· Coordinate with Customer Service, Sales, and other operating teams to resolve shortages, damaged goods, urgent orders, and fulfillment exceptions.
· Oversee routine facility and equipment maintenance, coordinating repairs and escalating significant needs.
Transportation & Customer Delivery
· Manage inbound and outbound transportation, including parcel, less-than-truckload, truckload, and local deliveries.
· Monitor carrier performance, shipment tracking, freight charges, delivery exceptions, and claims.
· Compare carrier options and negotiate rates and service improvements within approved authority.
· Reduce parcel lead times and freight costs through appropriate service selection, packaging, consolidation, and shipping procedures.
· Support expansion of supplier drop-ship fulfillment, ensuring shipment visibility, accurate documentation, and reliable delivery.
· Establish daily priorities that reflect B2B and B2C service requirements, including time-sensitive shipments and customer-specific receiving schedules.
· Partner with Customer Service to communicate delays proactively and resolve recurring delivery issues.
Purchasing & Inventory Replenishment
· Oversee purchase order processing, supplier acknowledgments, expediting, backorders, and purchasing accuracy.
· Maintain replenishment settings based on demand, supplier lead times, customer commitments, and approved inventory objectives.
· Balance product availability with inventory investment; identify and address excess, slow-moving, obsolete, and expiring inventory.
· Maintain accurate purchasing data, including approved pricing, lead times, order quantities, and supplier terms.
· Resolve receiving discrepancies, supplier returns, and credit requests; coordinate invoice discrepancies with Finance.
· Follow purchasing approval procedures and escalate significant commitments or exceptions.
Domestic Sourcing & Supplier Relationships
· Identify potential domestic suppliers and alternative sources for existing and requested products.
· Obtain and compare quotations based on specifications, availability, quality, lead time, and total delivered cost.
· Negotiate routine pricing, freight, minimum order quantities, and service improvements within established guidelines.
· Monitor supplier delivery, quality, and responsiveness; address performance issues and track corrective actions.
· Support supplier onboarding and qualification by collecting required documentation and coordinating internal reviews.
· Partner with executive leadership on major supplier agreements, strategic sourcing decisions, and significant changes to commercial terms.
· Coordinate approval of product substitutions with the appropriate internal teams and customers before purchasing or fulfillment.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
· Maintain a safe, clean, and organized warehouse; enforce established safety procedures and applicable OSHA requirements.
· Ensure employees receive appropriate training for assigned equipment, tasks, and material handling responsibilities.
· Follow product-specific storage, handling, traceability, and shipping requirements, including lot, serial number, expiration date, and temperature controls where applicable.
· Maintain required supplier and product documentation in coordination with designated quality and compliance resources.
· Ensure damaged, expired, nonconforming, or recalled products are identified, segregated, documented, and escalated appropriately.
· Support audits, corrective actions, and maintenance of operating procedures and training records.
Team Leadership & Continuous Improvement
· Lead, coach, and develop distribution, logistics, and purchasing personnel.
· Establish clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and maintain cross-training and coverage plans.
· Use Microsoft Dynamics 365, warehouse technology, and operational reporting to identify issues and improve execution.
· Manage controllable operating expenses within approved budgets.
· Implement a focused improvement plan addressing service, productivity, inventory, freight, and supplier performance.
· Report results, risks, and corrective actions to the COO.
· Capture critical supplier knowledge and operating practices during the transition from the retiring incumbent.
Required Qualifications
· Five to seven years of relevant experience in distribution, logistics, purchasing, or supply chain operations, including at least two years supervising a team.
· Demonstrated experience managing daily operations in a small or midsized warehouse or distribution environment.
· Practical purchasing and supplier-management experience, including quotation evaluation, replenishment, negotiation, and issue resolution.
· Experience supporting B2B fulfillment, with working knowledge of B2C parcel delivery and customer-service expectations.
· Strong understanding of inventory control, order fulfillment, carrier management, and freight costs.
· Proficiency with ERP or inventory management systems, barcode/RF scanning, and Microsoft Excel.
