 Electrical Engineer 

We are working with a company who is revolutionizing the indoor agriculture space for leafy greens. They operate multiple greenhouse facilities up and down the East Coast and the Mid-West. This company is in the process of building more hubs to increase production.

We are seeking an enthusiastic Electrical Engineer looking to work remotely in the indoor hydroponic space but open to travel as needed. This role will support the effectiveness of existing greenhouses and assist in the startup of new facilities.


Location: Remote (travel to the Mid-West & East Coast)  


Job Responsibilities:
  • Support new greenhouse design and construction by interfacing with consultants, suppliers, and contractors, to ensure that key objectives are achieved through startup, commissioning, and the warranty performance period
  • Support the maintenance team as an advisor for arc flash surveys, infrared inspections, and to diagnose electrical issues
  • Develop a base of knowledge for all facilities that includes current facility drawings, available electrical capacity, and contracts with local utilities providers. Be the subject matter expert in the electrical and controls components of all process and automation equipment. Support the maintenance team with preventative maintenance plans, troubleshooting, and improvements to ensure maximum production uptime
  • Lead efforts to identify, test, and analyze lighting systems for a greenhouse environment
  • Work with operations personnel to specify and add instrumentation as needed to existing greenhouse operating systems
  • Work with internal and external resources to develop utilities monitoring plans
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers and local contractors
  • Communicate directly with internal customers to understand operational needs and to train greenhouse personnel in electrical best practices
  • Promote workplace safety at all times
  • Participate in new equipment selection to ensure compliance with acceptance standards of construction
  • Develop electrical construction standards
  • Lead innovation efforts in electrical and controls engineering to ensure maximum process and energy efficiency


Required Skills/Qualifications:  
  • BS in Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years of engineering work experience in an industrial setting working with medium and low voltage electrical equipment
  • Greenhouse/controlled indoor environment experience is highly preferred
  • Experience in selection and application of electrical assets such as switchgear, motors, drives, ect
  • Experience with PLC controls and instrumentation
  • Clear communicator, ability to communicate with personnel at any level of the organization
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Ready collaborator with a servant leadership style of management
  • Use a hands-on approach in problem solving
  • 50% travel
  • Proficient in MS Office tools including Microsoft Project
