Texas Lehigh Cement is looking for a Maintenance Technician to join our Maintenance team in Buda, Texas. This is an hourly position that will typically work a Monday through Friday shift with scheduled on-call weekends. The pay scale for this position starts at $29-$35 but is flexible to offer more, based on experience. 

As a part of our team, the Maintenance Mech Technician position is a Millwright/Mechanic, you will perform general mechanical repair of major and auxiliary plant equipment. Candidates must be mechanically inclined and be able to furnish and use small hand tools, various types of cutting equipment, forklifts, sky tracks, as well as preform repairs on pumps, compressors, conveying systems, piping systems, gear reducers, chain drives and other various pieces of stationary equipment. Welding is required to perform welding, oxy/propylene and plasma torches, metal fabrication, gearbox repairs, conveyor belt repairs (including head pulley, tail pulley, snubber break over pulley), hydraulic diagnosis and repairs, compressor diagnosis and repairs.

​​​​The prospective candidate must also demonstrate a history of safety awareness, safe work practices, excellent attendance, a positive attitude, and the ability to work alone or in a team environment.


Required Skill/ Abilities
  • Pre-employment mechanical skills testing is required.
    Mechanical Skills:
  • Mechanical knowledge.
  • Able to use documents to understand technical specifications with respect to equipment installation and operation.
  • Able to numeracy to take accurate measurements using precision instruments.
  •  Alignment and rotative machinery understanding.
  • Welding, cutting, rigging.
  • Understand material handling, operation, and troubleshooting.
  • Good understanding of pneumatics & hydraulics.
  • Critical thinking to evaluate the condition of machines and their components.
  • Work in and out of the shop in all weather conditions and dusty environment.
  • Climb ladders and stairs, able to work on up to 6 stories level.
  • Work extended hours performing preventive & corrective repairs of assigned plant equipment.
  • After hours Call Out Schedule.
  • Requires the ability to stand for up to 8-16 hours per day, lift 50-80 pounds from the floor to waist height frequently and to push/pull 110 pounds for up to 50 feet consecutively.
  • Must be capable of climbing, kneeling, twisting, and bending in a varied environment.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Ensures safety is always an integral part of all job duties.
  • Observe Texas Lehigh Cement Company’s safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for the housekeeping and safety of the workplace.
  • Responsible for repairs in the field and reporting back to supervisor.
  • Participate in rotary shift and in call out rotation.
  • Perform mechanical maintenance activities, makes repairs, minor installations, and replacements, using hoists, jacks, welding equipment, ladders, confined space equipment, PPE, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and other tools.
  • Dismantles, constructs, and assembles various components of industrial facilities, machinery or equipment.
  • Creates and maintains Standard Operating Procedures for machinery and equipment.
  • Ability to work together with contractors.
  • Perform NDT (non-destructive testing; Training will be provided)
  • Perform condition monitoring activities. (Training will be provided)
  • Perform lubrication activities. (Training will be provided)
  • Troubleshoot mechanical breakdowns.
  • Collect and read vibration data using hardware and software. (Training will be provided)
  • Knowledge of different cement types. (Training will be provided)
