Direct Support Specialist | Temp to Hire position $18/hr. | On-Site Ardmore, PA

We are seeking a reliable and responsive Direct Support Specialist to work 22 hours per week for our client in Ardmore, PA.

This position is ideal for professionals experienced in IDD, behavioral health, or human services who are comfortable managing urgent situations and providing guidance in a fast-paced environment.

A day in the life of a Direct Support Specialist

• Implement and monitor Individual Support Plans (ISPs), offering feedback and recommendations as needed.
• Provide guidance and supervision in daily living activities, including cooking, personal hygiene, dressing, eating, cleaning, and other life skills—encouraging independence whenever possible.
• Create and support opportunities for recreational, cultural, and educational experiences at home and in the community.
• Foster a respectful, supportive environment that emphasizes dignity, inclusion, and choice for individuals with disabilities.
• Build professional, trusting relationships with families and support staff while maintaining clear boundaries.
• Transport individuals safely, following all relevant laws and procedures; assist with boarding and exiting vehicles when needed.
• Complete accurate progress notes and other required documentation promptly after each shift.

Requirements for the Direct Support Specialist position

•  Minimum 1 year of experience in IDD, behavioral health, or related human services field
• Strong ability to manage crisis situations calmly and effectively
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
