Job Summary:
We are seeking a Nuclear Criticality Safety Engineer to join us in serving our clients in Piketon, OH and Oak Ridge, TN. This position offers a hybrid work model, allowing for some remote work while requiring an on-site presence for walkdowns and team collaborations in Oak Ridge, TN and Piketon, OH.
 
Duties / Responsibilities:
Primary job duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Supports management in ensuring strong NCS programs and technically sound NCS analyses.
  • Performs NCS analyses and develops the safety basis for fissile material operations.
  • Performs computer models to support NCS analyses.
  • Establishes limits and controls for plant activities to maintain safe and efficient operations.
  • Ensures NCS requirements are adequately implemented.
  • Participates in audits and inspections, incident investigations, and design reviews.
  • Possesses knowledge and experience in criticality code verification and validation, criticality benchmarks, criticality alarm location an assessment, and criticality assessments.
  • Performs NCS assessments, investigation, and reviews of work packages/procedures, work instructions, authorization basis documents, and other operational documentation related to fissile operations.

 Minimum Qualifications / Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in nuclear engineering, physics, chemistry, mathematics or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience in nuclear criticality safety or related nuclear engineering roles.
  • Ability to obtain a DOE “Q” Clearance [Active “Q” clearance is preferred]. 
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with no dual citizenship.

 Required Skills / Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Possess a high level of attention to detail and accuracy. 
  • Proficient with MS Office applications. 
  • Qualified with MCNP and/or SCALE radiation transport calculation systems. 

  
Working Conditions and Travel Requirements:

The primary work site will be at the client's facility in Piketon, OH and/or Oak Ridge, TN. Travel is subject to client prior approval and will be in accordance with GSA rates for reimbursement.
