The Hydrological Civil Engineer plays a key role in the development of renewable energy infrastructure. In this role you will be responsible for analyzing and designing solutions related to water resources, including flood risk management, stormwater control, and waterway planning. This role requires expertise in both 1-D and 2-D modeling, data analysis, and design, focused on the behavior and movement of water through natural and manmade systems. In this role you will collaborate with other disciplines to develop comprehensive infrastructure projects. This position is an excellent opportunity for engineers looking to gain hands-on experience in civil engineering design while contributing to sustainable energy solutions. Working alongside experienced professionals, the selected candidate will be involved in creating and refining construction plans, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and advancing innovative energy projects.
Your Day-to-Day- Conduct Water Resource Studies, including surface runoff and drainage analysis, flood risk assessment, groundwater impact evaluation, permitting, mitigation measures, and regulatory compliance
- Design and review drainage, flood control, and water management systems such as detention basins, stormwater conveyance systems, culverts, channels, and levees
- Analyze water-related risks, design mitigation strategies, and provide recommendations for flood management and drainage solutions
- Utilize software tools for hydrological and hydraulic modeling
- Assess design alternatives to address constructability challenges, codes, and site conditions related to water resources
- Work effectively within a team and communicate efficiently with colleagues
- Adhere to project timelines and allocated hours as defined by Project Managers and Project Leaders
- Ensure compliance with internal and client-specific procedures and standards
- Identify and resolve technical issues with strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Work independently and collaboratively to complete tasks successfully
What You Bring
- Experience: 3 to-5 years of relevant experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a specialization in Hydrology or relevant experience in the field
- Languages: Spanish and Advanced English is preferred.
- Software Proficiency: HEC-RAS (or similar), SWMM, HEC-HMS, ArcGIS, 2D CAD, Civil 3D CAD, Google Earth, Microsoft Suite.
- Expertise: Watershed analysis, water balance studies, impact assessments for impermeabilization, drainage system design, water quality evaluation, and U.S. regulatory frameworks.
