RMA Group/ Western Technologies Inc. has an excellent opportunity for a registered Geotechnical Engineer in our Albuquerque, New Mexico office. Ideal candidate will possess a BS or MS in Civil Engineering or Geological Engineering, with a P.E. license and/or ability to obtain within 6 months in New Mexico, Texas, and Arizona.

You will assist with conducting and preparing reports for geotechnical evaluations for a variety of projects including foundation, pavement, and slope stability analysis. Study the nature of ground and surface waters, soils, bedrock for land use and planning. Includes field work, logging borings, mapping, field and laboratory testing and analysis. Perform field or laboratory geotechnical testing, analysis of the strength of soil and rock, consolidation/compression/swell properties, retaining walls, slope stability, seismic refraction and refraction-micro tremor surveys for rippability and seismic site classifications.

Assist in analyzes of soil to determine engineering characteristics

Review engineering plans

Inspect development sites

Collect/oversee soil sampling using borings and test pits

Perform/oversee laboratory tests

Assist in making recommendations regarding foundation design, soil bearing pressure, slope stability and lateral earth pressures

Assist in preparing cost proposals

Assist in writing geotechnical evaluation reports
