Summary
SESI seeks an Assistant Project Engineer to work in its Site/Civil Department. This individual will serve a key function in helping design commercial, residential, mixed-use, and industrial developments. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.- Prepare and update various engineering documents such as reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, cost estimates and design plans for projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D and associated software packages.
- Use reports, maps, drawings, engineering plans, tests, and aerial photographs to assess soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and topographical and geologic data and their impact on the planning and design of projects.
- Familiarity with current local, state (New Jersey and New York), and Federal Permitting regulations
- Must be willing to work in the field as necessary;
- Position requires work Monday through Friday with occasional evenings and weekends; and
- Performs other duties as requested.
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering;
- FE/EIT certification required; PE desired;
- 4-8 years of prior relevant professional experience in site/civil design, including site planning, grading, stormwater management, and erosion control measures;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Civil 3D;
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities;
- Reliable transportation to access job sites with a valid driver’s license in good standing; and
- Demonstrated ability to follow direction and work in a collaborative team environment

Approximately 25% up to 75% of the work is conducted outdoors. Worker must be able to walk frequently on uneven hard and soft ground/terrain in all types of weather conditions to include cold, hot rain, snow, ice, etc. Employees working in the field may also be exposed to sun, wind, insects, plants, animals, etc. As a result, appropriate clothing for outdoor work, work boots, safety glasses, hard hat, safety vest is required while working in the field.
