Pioneer Valley Books is seeking a self-motivated P/T Maintenance and Facilities Associate to join our mission-driven organization! This is an on-site position that currently covers locations in Northampton and Florence.

The P/T Maintenance and Facilities Associate will be responsible for performing repairs and improvements at our locations in a safe and efficient manner to support our team of office and warehouse professionals. The Maintenance and Facilities (M&F) Associate develops, implements, and manages projects to achieve established goals and complete facilities and maintenance tasks. This role reports to the Director of Operations and Facilities and works in collaboration with warehouse and operations staff.
Key Duties
  • Conducts routine maintenance of building interiors and exteriors
  • Identifies areas in need of attention and recommends possible solutions
  • Working with the facilities team, prioritizes tasks and performs minor repairs, including light carpentry, painting, and light mechanical work
  • Performs ongoing preventative maintenance programs on lighting, doors, and other mechanical equipment to ensure high availability and that they are in good working order
  • Works with outside contractors or vendors to ensure assigned tasks are completed to expectations
Our ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Proven carpentry skills and 5 years of experience in carpentry, construction, or facilities maintenance
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
  • Creative and established construction skills
  • Experienced building renovation and upkeep skills
  • Ability to safely use common hand tools and equipment in compliance with established safety procedures
  • Proven communication skills
  • Self-starter with good time management skills
  • Works well both independently and with a team
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and work to meet deadlines
  • Has own hand tools and reliable transportation
