A premier financial services firm located in New York City seeks an Assistant General Counsel to join its collaborative and team-oriented environment. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience in law firm and in-house settings as a bank regulatory attorney and will be expected to be knowledgeable in various bank regulatory areas. Compensation is $250K - $290K plus bonus and a competitive benefits package.
Primary Duties:

Provide bank regulatory legal advice to business, control function leaders and other stakeholders.

Provide project leadership on bank regulatory and supervisory matters.

Provide legal advice related to AML/KYC/CIP/CDD, as well as OFAC and sanctions programs.

Work effectively and in partnership with legal and compliance colleagues, as well as colleagues throughout the firm.

Support and coordinate responses for regulatory and internal audits as applicable.

Monitor and communicate standards and best practices applicable to the firm’s business and regulatory posture.

Provide legal advice and project guidance regarding new products and services, client platform development and other services involving regulatory issues.

Ensure that appropriate policies and procedures are up to date and accurate.
Requirements:

A minimum of 10 years of legal experience in law firm and corporate settings; experience at a U.S. bank regulatory agency a plus.

Juris Doctor (U.S.) (Must be licensed to practice law and a member in good standing in the state/jurisdiction in which the position is based or otherwise in compliance with the in-house counsel registration rules of that state/jurisdiction.)

Trust company/banking/wealth management regulatory experience.

Solid knowledge of existing and proposed U.S. banking/BHC regulations, statutes, agency rulings and policy.

Deep understanding of day-to-day bank/trust company business operations.

Self-starter and ability to manage/prioritize multiple responsibilities at once.

Ability to work well in a team environment and partner with colleagues in a creative, collaborative and productive manner.

Excellent written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, and presentation skills.

Ability to identify problems and take appropriate actions to resolve issues.
