Salary Range: $165,000-$220,000, depending on experience.
About the Role:
The Hardware Design Engineer designs and tests new integrated circuits and hardware components for a wide variety of signal processing applications and research. They design, document, and develop code (including firmware) for digital signal processors or other programmable Harare devices such as Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) and Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) hardware. They will analyze the function of existing integrated circuits and hardware components for the purpose of reverse engineering the hardware and firmware. They will conduct the necessary hardware engineering and related function to modify and adapt vendor-manufactured hardware to meet special Government needs and contingencies.
What You Will Do:
Position will focus on PCB design and layout; some reverse engineering, to include the analysis of integrated circuits, at both the macro cell/digital level, and the transistor/analog level. There is a push for FPGA and integrated circuit security analysis and recommendations/guidelines. Experience with microelectronics. That includes experience with ASIC design tools such as Cadence or Synopsis or FPGA design tools such as Altera Quartus or Xilinx Vivado. There are many types of circuits or products that use ASICs and FPGAs, so anything that involves the design of those devices would be desirable, especially if it involves security design or security analysis. Experience doing physical partitioning or analysis of the FPGA fabric would be desirable. Experience with ASIC design is desirable, but there will not be any new ASIC designs. Our minimum requirements for this role:- Some experience working with guidance evaluating FPGA or ASIC technologies to make recommendations to the customer
- A minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in integrated circuit or microelectronic component design or reverse engineering of the same.
- A bachelor’s degree in a related field. Five (5) years of experience may be substituted for the degree, for a total of twelve (12) years of experience minimum.
