About the Role
The Accountant is responsible for all activated involving accounts payable, as well as accounting tasks such as cash flow preparations, creating and booking journal entries, balance sheet, and income statement account reconciliations. The Accountant is also responsible for preparing daily cash reports, assisting in the preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP, post daily journal entries in INTACCT based on daily accounting activity, prepare monthly reconciliations, and remain in compliance with company policies and procedures. The Accountant must be a self- motivated self-starter and problem solver, who holds themselves accountable for their responsibilities.

What you can expect to do in the role:
  • Review financial documents and requests presented to accounts payable, for accuracy and completeness. Ensure that all payment requests meet the standards set forth by DBEDC’s accounting department
  • Process accounts payable transactions according to required schedule.
  • Daily monitoring of AP inbox and provide accurate and timely responses to all inquiries. AP inquiries should be resolved within one business day.
  • Lead collaboration with team members and DBEDC departments to continuously improve the accounts payable process and level of service delivery.
  • Process journal entries and other accounting transactions accurately and timely to support the accounting department’s monthly, and annual close.
  • Keep track of payment transactions including monitoring, verifying the validity of, and recording of funds leaving DBEDC’s bank accounts.
  • Initiate all accounts payable transactions including check, ACH, and wire payments.
  • Actively participates in the design and preparation of schedules for external audit, and financial reporting.
  • Provide additional support to the accounting team as needed.

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience
  • Demonstrated ability to be punctual, reliable and have strong communication skills
  • In-depth knowledge about accounting regulations and procedures, including GAAP.
  • Demonstrated experience handling accounting software such as Vena and ITACCT
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel including pivot tables
  • Strong attention to details and analytical skills
  • Expert management of general ledger functions, month-end and year-end close processes
  • Accuracy, an aptitude for numbers, and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated experience and willingness to research unfamiliar issues to come up with possible solutions/suggestions

It would be additionally phenomenal if you: 
  • Experience with Salesforce CRM
