Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer
Kingsport, TN
@Orchard LLC has been retained by a well-established solutions provider within the defense, intelligence, and critical infrastructure sector to identify an experienced Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to support their work in Kingsport, TN. If you are an experienced I&C Engineer with expertise in performing complex engineering tasks, our client has a challenge for you. Period of Performance is 6 Months with potential extension beyond the said period and a strong possibility for an FTE opportunity after 6 months on the contract.
Responsibilities:
- Perform complex engineering tasks and particularly important engineering work efficiently and accurately.
- Prepare and/or check specifications (control system and instrumentation), location plans, equipment/instrument schedules, datasheets, and other drawings and documents required to design, procure, install, configure, and operate I&C equipment and devices.
- Complete a variety of assignments such as drawings, specifications, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes.
- Prepare, check, and issue specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.
- Coordinate activities and deliverables with group leads and other engineers and designers within I&C discipline on the project.
- Provide technical guidance to CAD designers/Drafters, Designers, and lower-level engineers working on the same project.
- Interface with other engineers, Engineering disciplines, as well as other departments.
- Programing, configuring, of controls system equipment.
- Preparing detailed requisitions for equipment and materials. This includes reviewing supplier drawing submittals and performing technical bid analyses
- Supporting the commissioning and installation of field equipment.
Required Skills and Experience:- Bachelor's Degree in Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering (or related field)
- A minimum of 8 years of related work experience.
- Professional Engineer registration is not required but is desirable.
- Must be a US Citizen, but no security clearance is required.
- Willingness to work at the client's site and from corporate engineering offices is required.
- Willingness to occasionally travel to a second client site is expected (<150 miles) is also expected.
