Master the Numbers. Lead the Team. Support the Mission.

At TEG Federal Credit Union, our mission is to improve the financial well-being of our members, strengthen the communities we serve, and live our values through every interaction. We believe that banking is about more than transactions—it’s about people. As a member-owned financial institution, we build our success on a foundation of integrity, professionalism, service excellence, and cooperation. We don't just work in our neighborhoods; we actively strengthen them through sponsored volunteerism, charitable initiatives, and civic engagement. We are looking for a purpose-driven leader who embodies these core values and is ready to champion a collaborative, high-performing culture both within our organization and out in the communities we serve.

Your Role:

As the Accounting Manager, you will lead our efforts by balancing operational precision with a passion for mentorship. We are seeking a proactive, collaborative financial professional who brings a blend of technical expertise and high emotional intelligence, acting as both a guardian of internal controls and a champion for team growth.

In this role, you will report to the AVP of Finance and oversee daily accounting operations, staff development, workflow management, vendor relationships, and process improvement initiatives. You will serve as a strategic partner to executive leadership, helping to foster our core values across the department while driving the operational effectiveness of the credit union.

 Accounting Manager Responsibilities:

  • -Operational Leadership: Manage daily operations of the Accounting Department. Ensure timely completion of settlement activities, reconciliations, and reporting while maintaining strict internal controls and high service standards.
  • -Team Development & Mentoring: Lead, coach, and develop accounting staff through regular 1-on-1s, performance management, training, and succession planning. Promote an inclusive environment of continuous learning and collaboration.
  • -Process Improvement & Automation: Lead departmental projects designed to increase efficiency, mitigate risk, and reduce expenses. Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and leverage technology.
  • -Strategic Support: Serve as the backup to the AVP of Finance. Assist with budgeting, departmental reporting, month-end/year-end activities, and audits.
  • Vendor Management: Manage relationships with vendors and business partners, including support ticket resolution, system upgrades, contract administration, and annual due diligence reviews.
  • -Documentation & Compliance: Maintain and enhance departmental policies, procedures, and the Accounting Department Manual to ensure business continuity and compliance.

What You Bring:

  • -Minimum of 5 years of similar or related accounting experience. A bachelor’s degree, or formal industry certifications recognized as equivalent to a bachelor's degree.
  • -Deep knowledge of accounting principles, procedures, and functions. High expertise with Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and a sharp focus on detail and data accuracy.
  • -Outstanding diplomacy and tact. You must excel at relationship-building, collaboration, conflict resolution, and handling highly confidential information with absolute discretion.
  • -A genuine passion for community involvement, with a willingness to participate in and lead Credit Union-sponsored volunteer efforts.

Work Schedule and Environment:

  • -Work is primarily performed in a professional office environment with moderate noise levels.
