Educational Technology Instructional Trainer

Minimum/General Experience:

  1. Minimum of 2 years general experience plus 2 years project-specific experience or 5 years general professional experience with a BS/BA (or higher) degree in formal training pedagogy or a related field. Master’s Degree preferred.
  2. Formal understanding of educational pedagogies and instructional techniques for use of educational technologies in educational labs and multimodal environments to support language training and other curricula; and transfer of above skills and knowledge to staff.
  3. Experience developing and delivering technology-based and face-to-face teacher training.
  4. Familiarity with educational technology resources
  5. Familiarity with the use of multimodal devices in learning technologies.
  6. The use of customized content management systems in a web-based learning environment.
  7. Experience leveraging resources from collaborative or social learning environments and other settings as tools for mobile foreign language learning and other areas of professional education preferred.

Functional Responsibilities:

  1. Designs, develops, and delivers the FSI Multimedia Lab training curriculum preparing FSI staff to develop and deliver instruction to the US Department of State Foreign Service workforce.
  2. Designs, develops, and delivers educational technology-based and face-to-face training programs for training FSI staff in the use of traditional and cloud-based eLearning technologies in the FSI Multimedia Labs and other environments.
  3. Primarily train FSI School of Language Studies staff, but will need to be prepared to train staff from other FSI Schools and Centers.
  4. Develops and delivers FSI Multimedia Lab orientation sessions for FSI staff and students.
  5. Supports students and staff in their use of personal multimodal devices to access educational technology services supported by FSI.
  6. Conducts needs analyses, develops training objectives, schedules lesson plans, and evaluations, and collaborates on instructional treatment with Government program staff.
  7. Collaborate with Government program staff and FSI foreign language staff and other instructors to make recommendations for appropriate educational technology resources available online and at FSI.
