Development Manager Overview

The Development Manager will be integral in helping Mi expand our donor base and reach our fundraising goals by identifying, qualifying, personally soliciting, and cultivating a portfolio of donors.  This is a new role on our Development Team which reports to the Director of Development. At their disposal, the Development Manager will have many fundable program assets as a basis of creating donor partnerships with a diverse group of funders committed to equity, education, income inequality and STEM workforce development. 

This role can be remote. 

A new Development Manager on the Mi team will be executing on the responsibilities listed below:

·       Identify, research and qualify prospects, solicit prospects for leadership-level commitments, make leadership-level asks, cultivate prospects, track results

·       Independently conduct exploratory meetings, sales calls, and create strategies to develop new donors

·       Utilize direct mail, phone, email, or volunteers for solicitation or cultivation of prospects as appropriate

·       Secure partnerships and manage relationships to provide beneficial outcomes

Achieve a fundraising goal ranging from $150K - $200K

·       Promote awareness of the organization’s mission and work

·       Prepare donor correspondence and proposals

·       Plan and manage fundraising campaigns to help the organization meet financial goals

·       Form strong relationships with external and internal stakeholders

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience
  • A minimum of 3 years of sales or fundraising experience
  • Demonstrated ability to meet sales or fundraising goals 
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communications skills characterized by the ability to listen, speak and write well
  • Results-driven
  • Excellent organizational skills, analytical skills, and attention to detail

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Non-profit fundraising
  • Major gift/individual giving solicitation and cultivation experience
  • Experience with Salesforce
  • Experience in or knowledge of K-12 school turnaround and education reform
