THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a Data Engineer to join us in a key role on the Data & Intelligence team within our R&D group. In this role, you will join expert AI/ML and algorithm developers in creating innovative solutions to assist surgeons and improve patient outcomes in the OR. In addition, you will interact heavily with other internal teams, such as Commercial, Clinical, Operations, and Regulatory.
You will be responsible for developing, building, improving, and managing our data collection infrastructure, including our annotation and processing pipeline. The data can be complex, messy, and sometimes incomplete, and you will work closely with the team to determine requirements and strategies for transforming the data into usable datasets. You will also work closely with our Clinical team to influence and implement best practices for our data collection pipeline.
Essential Responsibilities- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and support business needs
- Apply your knowledge and experience with different data technologies to build reliable, maintainable, secure, and scalable systems and processes
- Transform large datasets consisting of structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data into clean and usable datasets for algorithm development
- Assist with automating and improving our annotation and data collection pipelines
- Ability to recommend and apply best practices to design database systems that scale with our data pipeline
- Self-motivated with strong problem solving and analytical skills. Ability to communicate across technical and non-technical teams.
- Demonstrated experience setting up infrastructure to automate processes for high volume data pipelines and large-scale applications.
- Experience with various image and video formats, and basic image and video processing.
- Experience with cloud-based services required
- Proficiency with Python, Kubernetes, Docker, SQL, Linux.
- Minimum bachelor's degree in a relevant field & 2 years prior experience
