Assembly Mechanics will need to be able to perform heavy-duty mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical work involving primarily the assembling of heavy equipment.  Will work with a high attention to safety processes and procedures, read and follow all engineering drawings, production procedures, and work orders to meet production standards and quality expectations. May need to coordinate work tasks with other departments, such as Engineering, and/or work units to improve work standards, quality, and efficiency. 

Our Assembly Mechanics earn a starting salary of $21.20 per hour, depending on experience. There is a $1.00 shift differential for our night shift. Our Night Shift hours are Monday- Friday from 7:00pm - 5:30am.

What You'll Do:

•    Cut and prepare surfaces or components
•    Provide unwavering commitment and consistent professionalism to when dealing with both internal and external customers 
•    Assemble assigned parts on assembly line in accordance with engineering and production guidelines and standards
•    Perform spot checks and final inspection of products to ensure adherence to approved quality standards
•    Operate other production equipment and performing tasks necessary to complete product to engineering specifications
•    Prepare and setup necessary tools and equipment for assembly processes
•    Propose potential quality or productivity enhancements (i.e. continuous improvements)
•    Review finished assemblies, parts and product to ensure accuracy against drawings and Bill of Materials (BOMs)
•    Report production issues and assist in resolutions as required
•    Participate in and attend cross-functional meetings as required
•    Constant-improvement mindset–aiming to keep pushing for “Highest & Best” as well as “Safety, Quality, and Efficiency”
•    Perform other non-essential duties as requested by the department manager

What We Need from You:

•    High school diploma or GED preferred
•    Experience with diesel engines, electrical and hydraulic circuits, and components
•    Safe overhead and Jib crane experience 
•    Ability to accurately read and interpret a tape measure, engineering drawings, bills of material (BOM’s) and decipher blueprint symbols 
•    Ability to accurately read and interpret electrical & hydraulic schematics 
•    Ability to apply concepts such as basic math skills, fractions, micrometers, percentages, ratios, proportions to practical situations, and able to convert decimals into inches
•    Grow lean knowledge and use the tools to identify and assist with continuous improvement.
•    Maintain positive, cooperative working relationships by working, acting, and communicating with various personalities getting along with customers, vendors, co-workers and management working both individually and as part of a team
•    Must express criticisms and concerns in a way that promotes teamwork and a positive work environment  
•    Skill in working efficiently and accurately to keep up with production requirements and stay productive with little supervision 
•    Safe material handling skills in working with steel        
•    Capacity to learn quickly, think independently and problem solve with or without guidance provided by Supervisor
•    Flexible and adaptable in coping with pressures, deadlines, and rapidly changing situations
•    Mechanical skills with manual dexterity to perform routine use of tools/fixtures for production aids
