Job Description
This position is responsible for leading the Innovation Center Advanced/Systems Engineering, CAE and CAD teams.

Primary Responsibilities:

Responsible for Managing Advanced and Systems Engineering Team
Advanced Engineering
  • Develop advanced refrigerant/coolant-based heat pump subsystem technologies to support electric and autonomous vehicle product pursuits with EV start-ups and established OEMs
  • Support the development of thermal management component technologies for use in advanced refrigerant and coolant-based heat pump systems
  • Utilize 1D system simulation tools to evaluate advanced thermal management concepts prior to prototyping, and testing actual components or subsystem hardware
  • Conduct self-funded refrigerant subsystem development to identify and prevent vehicle level subsystem or component issues for product technologies
  • Lead subsystem development for new/alternative automotive refrigerants, and develop component requirements based on subsystem considerations and needs
  • Represent our client in Americas-based thermal management consortiums and industry forums 

Systems Engineering
  • Lead all subsystem and module business pursuit efforts with early customer engagement and/or co-development in support of component or module sourcing
  • Properly size, select and cascade performance requirements for thermal management components to achieve customer’s heating and cooling requirements using simulation and subsystem verification testing as required
  • Lead all awarded subsystem projects and programs with an emphasis on electric/autonomous vehicle applications.
  • Execute subsystem design validation per customer and internal requirements 
  • Support thermal system integration for new or existing component or module products
  • Provide subsystem/component verification for new or alternative automotive refrigerants
  • Lead special projects requested by customers to assist in resolving vehicle system related issues (revenue based, engineering service contracts)
  • Utilize systems expertise to assist customers in issue resolution and root cause determination for system, subsystem or component-related issues

Responsible for Managing CAE Team
  • Provide CAE analysis to support customer applications
  • Support product groups in meeting customer deliverables related to CAE requirements
  • Lead the development of next-generation simulation and modeling tools to reduce or eliminate reliance on physical development and design verification testing
  • Properly validate, correlate and document all CAE application work and tool development
  • Develop CAE processes and tools that support use by product development application personnel
  • Lead CAE tool development to predict, design for and evaluate NVH acoustic performance
  • Support all product needs for modeling at component, subsystem and system levels
  • Comply with and support global CAE processes and standards

Responsible for Managing CAD Team
  • Deliver CAD models and detailed designs/drawings to product development for all pursuits and awards
  • Support model development, and design and release for all CAD internal and external deliverables including support of new CAE predictive tools and simulations
  • Provide seamless product 3D modeling and 2D assembly/component drawings
  • Manage and enhance CAD tools, data transfer and other design processes required to support program pursuits and execution of awarded business
  • Leverage resources to efficiently manage personnel and purchased service costs while supporting engineering CAD, and design and release requirements
  • Develop CAD templates and processes to improve design efficiency for all products
  • Develop GD&T expertise to improve designs 
  • Provide CAD, GD&T and dimensional analysis training to product development application engineers 
  • Support Master Data Services (MDS) team with accurate and timely release packages 
  • Comply with and support global processes and standards for CAD internal and external releases 

Years of Experience
Minimum of 5 years of related management experience in automotive thermal management

Educational Requirements and Preferences
Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required; graduate degree or higher is preferred

Special Requirements
Some international and domestic travel expected (10-20%). Teleconferences at times outside of traditional U.S. work hours is expected to accommodate schedules in Europe and Asia.
