GSE Solutions leverages five decades of proven industry experience and is searching for an experienced Chief I&C Engineer. GSE Design & Analysis group specializes in providing consulting engineering services to the nuclear utility industry and upgrading the plants within the aging nuclear fleet from analog to digital control systems.
Essential Functions:- Working with the Discipline Engineering Manager, increase the technical capabilities of engineering staff through training and hiring.
- Assist in business development for the expansion of the depth and breadth of services.
- Provide expert consulting services to our clients.
- Have the availability and ability to serve as a Project Engineer and to travel to client job sites, client office locations, or other project-related areas.
- Ability to interface with different discipline Managers, performing advising and oversight of projects and updating technical capabilities.
- Provides technical consulting services in I&C/Digital engineering.
- Acts as an expert technical resource and mentor for Company staff and acts as a technical resource for our clients.
- Identifies and keeps abreast of industry issues that will result in solutions for our clients.
- Helps to ensure that Company is positioned to assist current and new clients in addressing challenges in innovative and cost-effective ways.
- Working with the Discipline’s Engineering Manager, oversees the technical, professional, and ethical development of engineers to improve each engineer’s capabilities and career satisfaction. Encourages professional licensure of engineering staff.
- Recommends the procurement of engineering software suitable for use in nuclear power design (QA) and trains engineers in their use and techniques to improve the breadth and depth of services.
- Represent the Company at selected industry meetings by committee membership, presentation of papers, and assisting in the betterment of the profession.
- Assists other engineers in gaining access to and participation in industry groups.
- Serves as a Project Engineer when needed.
- Ensures that the Design and Analysis Engineering Quality Assurance Program is adhered to in all project activities.
- Recommends improvements to engineering and project planning and execution processes for all engineering disciplines in the organization.
- Assists with sales function by making client visits as technical advisor.
- Explores synergies in engineering services outside of nuclear power where Design and Analysis Group can provide high-quality professional services utilizing existing staff skills and tools.
- Maintains personal billing levels as set by the principals.
- Attains Company qualifications and Project Engineer certification expeditiously.
- Working with the Discipline’s Supervisor, establishes and meets goals to ensure personnel are developing the skills to provide quality and timely engineering services.
- Minimal Non-Conforming Reports and minimal rework of design comments on assigned projects as determined by Company Principals. Any NCR is addressed and corrected immediately.
- Working with the Discipline’s Manager, obtaining engineering software, with adequate staff training to increase services provided to our clients.
- Technological capability updates are held regularly with Principals, managers of projects, and the Discipline’s Manager.
- Strong verbal & written communication skills
- Ability to work on multiple projects and deadlines.
- Basic working knowledge and ability to use tools for scheduling, projecting, tracking, and managing time and dollars spent on projects.
- Ability to work as part of a team & mentor engineers.
- Must have strong knowledge of engineering services in the nuclear industry.
- Must have a thorough, demonstrated understanding and command of the DAG Quality Assurance Program.
- Extensive knowledge and ability using Microsoft Excel and Word. Basic to extensive knowledge in I&C/Digital engineering software typically deployed in the nuclear power industry.
- A working knowledge of cyber security (NEI 08-09, NERC CIP standards) is desired but not required.
Education & Experience:- A Bachelor’s Degree in Instrument/Control Engineering from an ABET-accredited program. Master's preferred.
- PE License is required.
- 15 or more years of experience providing engineering discipline with demonstrated accomplishments and expertise. Recognized expert within the nuclear power industry in at least one engineering specialty.
- Documented qualifications provided upon request.

Working Conditions:- General office environment.
- Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc.
- Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.
- Ability to obtain unescorted access to US commercial Nuclear Facilities
- Ability to travel.
- Pay Range
- $150,000.00 Annually to $175,000.00 Annually
