SUMMARY
The ERP Implementation Revenue Recognition - Subject Matter Expert (SME) is part of the Corporate Finance team at Astec Industries, Inc. Reporting to the Record-to-Report Value Stream Owner, this key position will be relied upon as the principal subject matter expert for the Oracle Cloud implementation globally. The SME’s function is to elicit, analyze, specify, validate, and document the stated and implicit needs of the business. He or she will serve as a liaison between business stakeholders and the project team to define business and system processes through workflows and written requirements to support the migration from legacy systems to Oracle ERP Cloud. This will include developing current and future state data and process maps and identifying technology gaps and remediation plans with the new systems as well as the related internal controls. This role will primarily focus on the Finance and Accounting elements of the  Quote to Cash Value Stream, more specifically, the sub-processes of Revenue Recognition, Billing and Accounts Receivable as they relate to the Global Oracle Cloud ERP Project.

This role must ensure compliance with ASC 606 for inventory and non-inventory revenue (warranty, subscriptions, service) for both point in time and overtime recognition, bill and holds and deferred revenue as well as the corresponding contract assets and liabilities. This role will work with cross functional teams to ensure proper data capture in the general  ledger and reporting, as well as implement and enhance internal controls in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley. This role is responsible for developing and documenting Standard Operating Procedures across all sites, designing training materials for end users and providing training.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work with business stakeholders to learn business processes and gather business requirements.
  • Establish self as a trusted adviser and thought leader to the business teams.
  • Design new state business process flow documentation to address requirements, US GAAP compliance and internal controls that leverages standard Oracle Cloud functionality.
  • Ensure process flow incorporates appropriate internal controls elements in an automated fashion wherever possible. Break down technical complexities so that they can be easily understood by business units and project stakeholders.
  • Assist business stakeholders with testing of system changes and analyze data flows for process improvement opportunities.
  • Identify and implement solutions for gaps that are not solutioned by the current instance of Oracle Cloud.
  • Ability to synthesize high-level concepts surrounding new work requests into a set of business requirements.
  • The person will help collaborate with Oracle Consultants and Astec IT Business Analysts to configure the Oracle Cloud product to support initial implementation and subsequent process optimization efforts.
  • Understand integration points with other systems that interface with the application, evaluate and minimize ripple effects.
  • Provide support to end-users and other subject matter experts, including managing issue resolution and performing root cause analysis as needed.
  • Integrate and maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with ASC 606 and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or equivalent business experience.
  • CPA License, required
  • Six to Nine years’ experience, required.
  • Big 4 public accounting experience preferred.
  • Extensive ASC 606 experience, required, software based revenue recognition a plus.
  • Experience with process mapping, group facilitation, data gathering and analysis.
  • Prefer experience as a project team member for a full lifecycle tier 1 ERP implementation project, and all phases (requirements gathering, design, development, deployment, training, and measuring effectiveness).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Including Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint and preferably Sharepoint.
  • Experience using Oracle ERP Cloud in an Accounting role is preferred.
  • Experience with one or more report building software applications is preferred.
  • Experience within a publicly-traded company and SOX compliance is required.
  • Must be highly self-motivated and innovative in solutions design

Must have expert/manager level experience within the functional value streams of Accounting and Financials Management, including the various sub-processes within the following functional areas:
