ABOUT THE POSITION
The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for designing, creating, and continuously improving manufacturing processes with the operations group. This role will also support the manufacturing operation with technical expertise and guidance regarding technology, processes, equipment, and continuous improvement.

Key Activities & Responsibilities

Develop, evaluate, and recommend improvements in manufacturing methods via new processes and modifications, minimization of costs, and effective application of production capabilities
-
Implement process improvements through time studies, process mapping, value-stream mapping, spaghetti diagram and workload balancing with cross-functional team collaboration
-
Utilize standard lean tool sets and achieve safety and process improvements through reductions in cycle-time, rework, scrap, inventory, overtime, space, on-time completions, etc.

Collaborate with manufacturing to analyze and plan workforce utilization, space requirements, material routing and handling methods, manufacturing processes and methods, machine and tool design applications, workflow and new technology and layout designs of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency, safety and quality

Support planning of facility production with quantitative tools such as load tables or other analysis tools to determine equipment loads, line balance, man/machine requirements, and areas of improvement

Estimate production times, capacity requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions and meet completion dates and technical specifications

Develop proposals, evaluates new development programs and recommends changes in parts specifications, manufacturing processes and production methods and/or objectives to improve quality, productivity, manufacturability and safety as required

Apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential
-
Oversee transition of new product introductions from engineering to manufacturing including capacity analysis, process robustness and process validations

Develop and maintain the manufacturing process work instructions and assembly tooling initiated by product design or method improvement changes

Specify new equipment and design required fixtures, jigs and tooling needed to meet production and quality requirements

Research, organize, analyze and maintain records of technical information from a variety of sources
To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:-
Bachelor’s degree in industrial, manufacturing, mechanical engineering or related field from an accredited college or university required

Minimum of three (3) years of related work experience in a manufacturing environment with a demonstrated understanding of heavy machinery manufacturing processes
-
Knowledge of LEAN, Kaizen, and continuous improvement methods used in manufacturing processes
-
Knowledge of all types of metal-cutting and welding processes
-
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required; AutoCad Inventor a plus
-
Knowledge and understanding of nesting software for material optimization preferred
-
Ability to collaborate and facilitate cross functional teams to influence and manage change in a heavy manufacturing, multi-shift work environment
-
Strong verbal and written communication skills

Excellent organizational and managerial skills
-
Fosters healthy relationship with shop floor team members with a “go and see” attitude toward shop floor issue support

Champions “design for manufacturability” opportunities with Product Engineering

Proficient with reading and understanding engineering drawing and schematics

Thorough understanding of the policies and practices used in manufacturing

Ability to motivate and organize multiple efforts to accomplish goals
