In this role, the focus is on driving sales for the Parts Sales Department by cultivating relationships with current dealers and potential customers. The position involves showcasing products and services to clients, aiding them in selecting the most suitable options for their needs. Emphasis is placed on promoting the purchase, safe usage, and proper handling of factory original parts and Astec equipment. Key responsibilities include building meaningful connections with both existing and new customers, devising and executing sales strategies aligned with Astec's objectives, addressing equipment performance issues, providing training for customers, and maintaining thorough records of sales-related interactions.

What You'll Do:
  • Establish, cultivate, and nurture business relationships with both existing clients and potential customers within the designated territory or market segment to drive new business for Astec's product support and parts sales department.
  • Develops and implements a strategic sales plan, aligning personal goals with Astec's parts and service objectives, with a focus on maximizing the Return on Time Investment for the assigned territory or segment.
  • Collaborates with distributors to effectively promote and sell Astec OEM parts and equipment.
  • Provides support for the promotion of Astec machines by working closely with Astec and dealer sales personnel.
  • Conducts telephone calls, in-person visits, presentations, and training sessions for existing and potential customers, emphasizing Astec's parts and service offerings for both distributors and direct customers. Ensures appropriate follow-up and follow-through as required.
  • Generates timely reports detailing customer needs, concerns, interests, competitive activities, and identifies opportunities for new products and services.
  • Assists the factory in coordinating service bulletins and marketing campaigns in collaboration with dealers and customers for Astec equipment within the designated area.
  • Coordinates all sales activities with the factory, Parts Sales Manager, Service Manager, Territory Sales Managers, and dealer product support personnel.
  • Engages in regular and extensive travel throughout the territory, including frequent weeklong stays, with a travel commitment ranging from 75-85%.

What We Need from You:
  • Minimum requirement is a high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); a four-year college degree is preferred.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and schematics, especially in relation to parts books, is essential.
  • Sales experience, with a focus on heavy equipment parts, is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of heavy construction equipment, including products, applications, services, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance, is a positive attribute.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work effectively as a team member and collaborate with employees at all levels.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) are necessary.
  • Excellent customer-relations skills are a key requirement.
  • Willingness and ability to operate heavy roadbuilding equipment, with training if necessary.
  • Proficient operation of a personal computer and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite software applications are expected.
  • Capability to set, adjust, and change daily priorities.
  • Strong conflict management skills and the ability to resolve issues in a positive manner for all parties involved.
  • Must be self-motivated.
