SUMMARY
Supports the Controller in directing financial and accounting activities of the company by performing the following duties personally or through departmental associates.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for identifying and preventing discrepancies in financial reporting.
  • Responsible for summarizing and analyzing financial activity and position in a clear manner and communicate with management regarding financial performance.
  • Direct preparation of budgets and forecasts, review budget proposals, and prepare necessary supporting documentation and justification.
  • Act as a liaison between internal and external auditors and coordinate all audits including the company financial statements, 401(k) reporting, Payroll, and Sarbanes-Oxley.
  • Responsible for maintaining internal controls that support an environment effective for financial reporting purposes.
  • Conduct studies and submit recommendations for improving the organization’s accounting operation.
  • Responsible for special improvement projects to support management
  • Responsible for developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Directly oversee payroll, and general accounting department.
  • Supports monthly-, quarterly- and year-end close process.
  • Prepare and post journal entries.
  • Prepare and/or Review & Approve balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Prepare reports required by regulatory agencies, including personal property tax returns.
  • Collect and prepare data to assist the company or corporate with federal, state, and local reports and tax returns.
  • Oversee the training and development of finance staff, and delegate duties and authority to meet departmental and organizational goals
  • Support and advise accounting department during transition to Oracle.
  • Assist Controller with a variety of tasks and projects as needed and assigned.
  • Follow company policies and procedures at all times.
  • Follow proper safety rules and procedures at all times.

SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS:  General Accountant and the Payroll Department on a daily basis. Will supervise the Accounting Department in the absence of the Controller.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLLS and ABILITIES:
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects required.
  • Knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) required.
  • Computer experience, including MS Office products and fully integrated ERP systems required.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to gather information from various people and sources within the company required.
  • Must be able to work well as a member of a team.
  • Ability to be very detail oriented, especially when preparing reports or reporting financial and accounting information required.
  • Minimum of 5 – 7 years manufacturing accounting experience required.
  • Minimum of 4-year degree in Accounting required, CPA preferred.
  • Computer skills to include Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Cognos and E9.
  • Experience with Oracle desired.
  • Ability to supervise departmental associates including policy and rule enforcement, performance appraisals, conflict resolution, scheduling, etc.
  • Must be able to meet regular attendance requirements.
