ABOUT THE POSITION
The Director of ESG will provide the overall leadership for the ASTEC organization with the identified company and group goals. This position will report directly to the Senior Vice President of Administration, Investor Relations and ESG, a member of the Executive Leadership Team. This position is responsible for the overall development, and maintenance of an effective Environmental, Social, and Governance program for the organization. The Director of ESG will also be responsible for driving the ASTEC ESG journey and developing strategic approaches to stakeholder engagement and for the community investment towards successful sustainability and ESG results.

Deliverables & Responsibilities
  • Identify long-term sustainability targets and action plan to succeed.
  • Articulate an ESG strategy that is directly tied to the business' strategies and goals.
  • Collaborate with product managers who develop and design sustainability into our portfolio of customer facing solutions.
  • Lead, develop, implement, and maintain environmental sustainability programs, policies and procedures based on leading indicators.
  • Comply with all federal, provincial, and territorial regulatory requirements.
  • Drive and enhance the environmental, sustainability programs and policies such as the ASTEC ESG journey.
  • Develop strong relationships with all the ASTEC sites.
  • Travel to ASTEC facilities throughout the world as needed.
  • Assist the Senior Vice President of Administration in communicating Astec's Enterprise-wide sustainability initiatives - internal and external.
  • Develop overall short, medium, long-term strategies around GHG reductions, competitive advantage, etc. and how to deploy those internationally + track progress.
  • Provide Investor/Board/Shareholder updates and communication support.
  • Work with Environmental, Health and Safety (“EHS”) Director initiatives that support Astec's sustainability and environmental performance goals.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with peers throughout the industry.
  • Attend industry conferences as appropriate. 
  • CDP Responses annually
  • Responsible for Climate Risk evaluation and management 
  • Workiva integration 
  • ESG KPI Tracker management
  • Materiality assessments and prepping for double materiality. 
  • Sustainability Report creation (with support from marketing, communications, and division leads)
To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:
  • Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Engineering, Environmental Management, Environmental Science, or any equivalent
  • 5-10 years’ experience in developing and leading sustainability and ESG results

Supervisor and Leadership Expectations
  • The Director of EHS and the ASTEC Site EHS managers will have a dotted line to the Director of ESG.
  • Develop overall short, medium, long-term strategies around GHG reductions, competitive advantage, etc. and how to deploy those internationally + track progress.

Travel Requirements: Travel to ASTEC facilities throughout the world as needed, typically 15%.
