ABOUT THE POSITION
Utilizing the 7 QC tools & statistical analysis, lead root cause investigations on quality issues and establish corrective actions.  Through data analysis and operator input, determine and establish best practices, and then train across shifts. Work with purchasing and suppliers on purchased-part quality issues.  Verify and inspect company products and purchased products to ensure compliance with company quality standards and specifications. Work closely with Engineering and Service on quality control improvements and corrective actions.

Key Deliverables
  • Inspect all product ready for shipment by:
    • Matching bar code label description with actual part
    • Matching bar code part number with paperwork
    • Matching quantities with paperwork
    • Visual inspection for defects and cleanliness
    • Inspecting packaging to ensure product will remain undamaged during transit
    • Validating the shipping label matches the address in the Sales Order
  • Stop shipment on all product not adhering to quality standards and engage warehouse leadership in resolution of quality issues prior to release for shipment.
  • Document inspection result by keeping accurate logs
  • Update and review existing procedures and recommend improvements.
  • Provide departments with daily inspection results.

Key Activities & Responsibilities
  • Develop and communicate proper methods for inspection, testing, sampling and training.
  • Evaluate production process capabilities and variation tendencies and implement process controls.
  • Quality of Manufactured Products:  Through testing, data analysis and personal inspection, certify manufactured products adhere to the required specifications.
  • Quality of Purchased Products:  Through random sampling, ensure purchased products meet required specifications, and work with suppliers on in-coming quality standards and expectations.
  • Evaluation:  From statistical analysis, root cause evaluation, and daily inspection results, provide feedback to the Manufacturing and Engineering Departments for quality improvements and quality controls.
  • Procedures:  On a continuing basis, update and review existing procedures and advise the Quality Assurance Manager of suggested procedural improvements.
  • Calibration:  Develop and maintain a plant calibration program to ensure the accuracy, repeatability, and reproducibility of gauges, fixtures, welding machines, and measurement devices as required.
  • Quality Assurance Records:  Maintain Quality Assurance records, including data entry, tracking, and control of documents.  Enhance “reject notice” database and utilize for data analysis (statistical and graphical).
  • Perform other duties as qualified and assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager.

To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:
  • A 2- or 4-year degree preferred and/or equivalent experience or knowledge.
  • 2+ years of quality control/quality assurance background and experience.
  • Ability to work well with others and demonstrate good oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills and statistical analysis/process control background.
  • Ability to read blueprints and properly use common measurement and test devices.
  • Perform work in an industrial environment with exposure to industrial noise, fumes, smoke, etc.

Manufacturing Environment
Shop manufacturing environment exposures include exposure to moving mechanical parts, machinery, tools and equipment, vibration, fumes or airborne particles, motorized vehicles, welding and machining operations, outside weather conditions and exposure to the risk of electric shock.  The employee may occasionally be exposed to varying levels of dirt, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, very warm and/or very chilly temperatures.  The noise level in the shop can be very loud at times consistent with an industrial assembly facility and may require hearing protection.
