ABOUT THE POSITION
As the Product Owner at Astec, you will be instrumental in driving software market share growth as part of the Astec Digital team. This role involves conducting extensive market trend and gap analyses, providing engineering-focused recommendations, and translating high-level product strategy into precise requirements and prototypes. You will curate and expand our backlog of work across various product families, ensuring alignment with evolving market demands and business requirements. Your collaboration with design teams will be crucial in defining optimal UI/UX layouts, wireframes, and prototypes, as well as setting feature sets and following industry best practices. Beyond this, you will lead and support diverse development teams, facilitating sprint ceremonies, backlog management, and the creation of user stories and acceptance criteria for new features. This dynamic position places you at the forefront of revolutionizing the asphalt paving industry through innovative digital solutions.
Deliverables & Responsibilities- Collaborating with prospective users and clients to understand and anticipate their needs and translate them into product requirements.
- Helping to define the vision for the team’s product and collaborating with team members and other stakeholders to execute that vision.
- Managing the product backlog and prioritizing them based on changing requirements and additional discovery.
- Overseeing all stages of product creation including design and development.
- Developing user stories and writing acceptance criteria.
- Monitoring and evaluating product progress at each stage of the process.
- Liaising with the product team and end-users to deliver updates.
- Participating in Scrum meetings and product sprints.
To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:- Four (4) year college or university degree in technical or business field or equivalent experience required.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in managing and delivering product based on IoT or Data/BI or Cloud based technologies is essential.
- Past experience as an Agile Product Manager or Product Owner on a scrum team is highly desirable.
- Training and certification in kProduct Management and Agile/Scrum is highly desirable.
- Previous experience in Front End Software Development or Engineering is very desirable.
- Experience in Industrial Products, Construction or Engineering industry is desirable.
- Must be outcome-orientated and have the ability to uncover requirements in a rapidly-changing environment, while managing multiple ongoing priorities and responsibilities.
- Must be able to travel occasionally domestically and internationally.
- Ability to write software demonstration and release notes, sprint reports and general business correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers, groups of managers, associates, clients, and the general public.
