Benefits Manager | Temp to Hire position $34-$43/hr. | Hybrid West Chester, PA

We’re seeking an experienced Benefits Manager to oversee and administer comprehensive employee benefits programs, including health and wellness plans, retirement, and workers’ compensation. This role will also lead compliance efforts, manage vendor relationships, and support HR leadership with benefits strategy and planning.
 
A day in the life of a Benefits Manager

  • Manage the administration of employee benefits programs, ensuring compliance with county, state, and federal regulations.
  • Partner with external vendors and providers to monitor service levels and control costs.
  • Handle escalated employee inquiries, troubleshoot issues, and resolve benefit-related concerns.
  • Review and recommend contract amendments and plan design changes.
  • Evaluate rate renewals and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Analyze benefits utilization data and recommend improvements to align with employee needs and organizational goals.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of compliance requirements (e.g., FMLA, ADA, COBRA, Section 125, Workers' Comp, Pension regulations).
  • Oversee self-insured workers’ compensation program; coordinate with TPA, attorneys, and investigators as needed.
  • Support employees with complex retirement-related questions and help organize pre-retirement seminars.
  • Lead and supervise benefits staff, including hiring, training, and performance management.

Requirements for the Benefits Manager position

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 9 years of experience in HR or benefits administration, with supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of HR policies, benefit programs, legal compliance, and vendor management.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to interpret contracts, budgets, and audits.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and HRIS systems; experience with PeopleSoft is a plus.

Preferred:

  • Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Experience in employee relations, benefits, and workers' comp programs.
