We are now accepting resumes/applications for Shipyard Supervisors in Morgan City, LA and surrounding areas. We are looking for a highly motivated and independent person to train procedures and policies.
Duties and responsibilities
- Work with a team to coordinate and ensure the successful execution of all projects.
- Adhere and enforce all company policies, procedures, and guiding principles.
- Adhere and enforce all company safety and environmental policies.
- Support and assist with the completion of all required paperwork and reporting documentation, including but not limited to JSA’s, hot work permits, time sheets, night shift turnover sheets, incident reports, work orders, employee warning reports, testing reports, and weekly inspection reports.
- Inspect projects/vessels for any condition changes and correct any conditions that are unsafe for entry or hot work.
- Perform continual inspections throughout projects/vessels and correct any deficiencies in quality.
- Organize production crews so that each task is appropriately staffed and ensure maximum productivity, efficiency, and safety.
- Communicate with supervisors regarding planning of activities that may affect the yard, such as crane lifts, equipment requirements, and subcontractors.
- Ensure that all crane lifts are performed with the appropriate rigging, taglines, and personnel as required.
- Ensure that materials and equipment needed for the nightshift are located at the work site.
- Identify any problems associated with safety or scope of work and coordinate with the supervisors to develop and implement a corrective action plan.
- Communicate any changes in scope of work to the supervisors and assist with developing a plan to address the changes.
- Assist the supervisors with tracking budget hours and schedules.
- Assist with employee evaluations and recommend status changes or disciplinary actions.
- Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, sketches, and templates.
- Enter confined spaces.
- Traverse gangways and scaffolding at varying heights.
- Traverse and negotiate uneven heights between dock and vessel.
- Traverse and negotiate uneven surfaces.
- Ability to read and understand all welding procedures, if applicable.
- Verify and understand each welding process, if applicable.
- Ensure that each welding process is performed by qualified personnel, if applicable.
Critical Demands
- Repetitive forward bending, rotation of the trunk, and flexing of the hips and knees.
- Repetitive kneeling and squatting.
- Lifting no greater than 50 lbs. from floor to 6 ft. work surface unassisted.
Working Conditions
- Work is outdoors and indoors. There is no air conditioning or heating.
- Uneven surfaces throughout the job site, with sand, limestone, and concrete outside. Numerous trip hazards throughout.
