The Role:

Geronimo Energy is looking for a Field Engineer to join our operations team. The field engineer will be responsible for providing engineering support for projects in operations or soon to be in operations. This position includes assisting plant personnel and projects with field support, analyzing performance and production metrics of renewable assets, conceptual and detailed design review of equipment and project specifications, and troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment issues. This role encompasses collaborating with a cross functional team to optimize performance of Geronimo Energy Renewable assets for long term sustainability.

What You are Actually Doing: 

  • Analyze plant metrics across a variety of renewable platforms to find anomalies and improve plant performance.
  • Increase asset optimization and plant profitability within engineering design parameters, in conformance with approved procedures and permits. 
  • Communicate regularly with director of engineering and other personnel to ensure satisfaction of internal/external customer requirements.
  • Provide technical support to plant operations as may be required for project infrastructure, facilities, and systems.
  • Participate in or lead business unit improvement initiatives.
  • Manage and provide oversight of external professionals who provide technical expertise and project support through design, construction, and operations.
  • Oversee quality aspects of engineering and construction, including ensuring compliance with design standards and accuracy of final documentation and test data.
  • Provide technical support to plant operations as may be required for project infrastructure, facilities, and systems.
  • Ensure all relevant internal controls are followed and develops new controls as needed.
  • Perform root cause analysis and presenting findings to cross-functional teams, including management.
  • Assist team with NERC compliance requirements as determined.

What You Bring to the Role: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a specific engineering discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years in project operations, engineering and/or construction.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a broad range of renewable or other power generation development, design, permitting, construction or operations.
  • Working knowledge of consulting services and operations contracts.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong electronic troubleshooting skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to understand technical documentation related to renewable energy projects such as local codes and regulations, civil and electrical drawings, or other specifications.
  • Proficiency using personal computer tools such as MS Office, Word, Excel, NetSuite, MS Project, Visio, AutoCAD, analytic systems, and other database managements systems.
  • Ability & Willingness to travel and assist plants with technical support/troubleshooting. Travel expectation anywhere from 50-70% but will vary depending on operational need and restrictions in place due to Covid 19 and operational needs.

Preference may be given to candidates with the following:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) Registration
  • Advanced degrees in Engineering or Business
  • High Voltage Experience
  • Experience with electrical system analytics/SCADA/Relays/Advanced Analytic systems
  • Proficiency in PSSE, PSLF, PSCAD, ETAP and/or Easy Power
  • Experience with Statistical analysis and Interpretation
  • NERC Compliance experience
