Job Title: Certified Medication Aide
Department: Medical
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt


SUMMARY
The Certified Medication Aide must accurately prepare, administer, document medications as prescribed and observe resident for reaction or side effects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Accurately prepare, administer and document medications as prescribed.
  • Accurately take and record vital signs
  • Accurately count and sign medication administration record for controlled drugs.
  • Observe all client and report anything unusual or abnormal to nurse on shift.
  • Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance in accordance with facility absence policies.
  • Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations.
  • Use appropriate work place behavior and adhere to dress code at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Nurse Manager
  • Provide support to Operations, and perform other duties needed by RCA Manager when not performing vitals or distributing medications
  • Observe for and immediately notify nurse on shift any noted reactions or side effects of medications.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
Must have completed and passed a state approved Medication Aide Course.
Current medication aide permit from Texas Department of Health required

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to effectively present information to top management.

COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), Google Suite, and have the ability to chart on an electronic medical records system.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS
 While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk,
hear and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, or keyboard.
Ability to sit at a desk and computer for an extended period of time.
Vision, hearing, manual dexterity, and eye-hand coordination must be adequate for
performance of job duties.
