This role provides technical leadership and hands-on administration across Microsoft 365 GCC, Azure/Entra ID, and related cloud services, with a strong emphasis on security monitoring, identity management, endpoint management, automation, and compliance alignment (NIST).
The ideal candidate is highly self-directed, capable of independently owning infrastructure and security operations, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment. This individual will serve as a senior technical resource responsible for maintaining secure, reliable, and scalable systems while driving operational improvements and mentoring junior staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Cloud Infrastructure & Identity Management

Administer and optimize Microsoft 365 GCC, Azure/Entra ID, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and other enterprise SaaS platforms 
Manage identity and access controls, including Conditional Access, MFA, privileged access, RBAC, and identity lifecycle management 
Maintain and improve endpoint management, device compliance, and mobile device management using Microsoft Intune or equivalent platforms 
Configure and maintain cloud-based collaboration, storage, and communication services 
Support tenant administration, licensing, and policy management across Microsoft cloud environments 

Security Operations & Compliance

Monitor, investigate, and respond to alerts across Microsoft Defender and related security platforms 
Assist in implementing and maintaining security controls aligned with NIST and organizational security policies 
Support vulnerability management, endpoint protection, patch management, and security hardening initiatives 
Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, remediation efforts, and post-incident reviews 
Assist with audit readiness, compliance reporting, and evidence collection activities 

Systems Administration & Operations

Ensure availability, performance, reliability, and scalability of cloud-based systems and services 
Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, escalations, and service interruptions 
Administer system configurations, updates, patching, and platform maintenance activities 
Support onboarding/offboarding processes from a systems, licensing, and access management perspective 
Maintain backup, recovery, and business continuity procedures for cloud services and critical systems 
Monitor system health, performance metrics, and operational alerts to proactively address issues 

Automation & Continuous Improvement

Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts and automation processes to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort 
Identify opportunities for process optimization, standardization, and infrastructure modernization 
Recommend and implement enhancements to systems architecture, security posture, and operational workflows 
Maintain and improve technical documentation, procedures, and configuration standards 

Team Collaboration & Technical Leadership

Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and knowledge sharing to junior IT staff 
Collaborate with leadership on strategic technology initiatives, system improvements, and long-term infrastructure planning 
Partner with internal stakeholders and vendors to support operational and security objectives 
Participate in cross-functional projects and enterprise technology deployments

QUALIFICATIONS: 

5&ndash;8+ years of experience in systems administration, with a strong focus on cloud-first enterprise environments 
Strong experience administering Microsoft 365 and Azure/Entra ID environments 
Hands-on experience with Microsoft Defender (Endpoint, Identity, Office 365, or Cloud Apps) 
Solid understanding of identity and access management principles, security best practices, and Zero Trust concepts 
Experience with endpoint management platforms such as Microsoft Intune 
Familiarity with NIST or similar security and compliance frameworks 
Experience supporting enterprise SaaS applications and cloud-based infrastructure 
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and root cause analysis skills 
Experience with system monitoring, patch management, and operational support processes 
Ability to work independently with minimal oversight while managing multiple priorities effectively 
Strong verbal and written communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The ability to conceptualize system designs and determine system requirements is essential. 
Candidates are required to translate client requirements into system designs that meet functionality and budgetary needs. Candidates will be required to generate functional system descriptions and design narratives, complete block wiring diagrams, rack elevations, custom plates, cabling assemblies, and produce specifications and budget estimates. Candidates will be required to participate on design teams for facilities, review drawings, and submittals, and develop specifications and budget estimates. On-site inspection of installation may also be required on occasion. Ideal candidates should have technical expertise and the ability to coordinate information to support the design of essential facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to supporting critical public safety initiatives. Participate in project meetings with internal teams and external clients. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design SCS for public safety facilities that include standards-based redundancy, and geo-diversity, per industry best practices
Develop detailed system schematics and mission critical facility drawings utilizing AutoCAD and Revit; as well be competent in BlueBeam products, and Visio)
Design security systems, including access control, and surveillance (CCTV cameras), and recording
Experience with common access control, security, camera hardware and systems
Experience integrating detailed network designs with both technical and office furniture layouts
Provide budget estimates for SCS, data center components, access control, and security systems
Ensure all installations comply with industry codes, International Building Code (IBC), industry standards and best practices
Perform routine inspections and site inspections during installation and commissioning
Coordinate with internal teams, clients, and vendors to ensure successful project execution
Prepare project documentation, including scopes of work, timelines, and budget reports
Work closely with IT resources and other technical teams to integrate all low voltage systems and infrastructure
Knowledge and experience with data center systems to include UPS, generator, Computer Room Air Conditioning (CRAC), data center infrastructure management (DCIM), grounding, raised flooring, etc. is a plus  
Collaborate with public safety personnel to understand their needs and customize the solutions accordingly
Provide technical expertise and recommendations during planning and design phases
Ability to travel 50% of the time 
Use communications tools, and Office 365 applications effectively, to develop and share work product
Performs other related duties as assigned by management

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in electrical engineering, electronics, computer science, information technology, or a related field highly preferred
Must either have or be able to successfully complete credentialing and certifications within two years (e.g., Registered Communications Distribution Designer [RCDD]. 
Minimum of two years of experience in structured cabling design, A/V, security camera systems, and access control, preferably in a public safety or critical infrastructure environment
Proficiency in SCS desired, security system design, including knowledge of audio processing, acoustics, video conferencing, control systems, cameras, CCTV and CATV design
Experience with engineering graphics, such as Visio, BlueBeam, and AutoCAD
Strong understanding of network infrastructure and its integration with complex technological systems and critical facilities
Ability to safely work in a construction environment for data gathering, and work assessment.
Must be able to complete Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) certification upon hire
