About This Role
Build Strong Bodies, Minds, and Character.
We are seeking a passionate, energetic, and mission-aligned K-5 Health & Physical Education Teacher to join our Georgia school community. This role is ideal for educators who believe elementary physical education is more than activity — it is a daily opportunity to build scholar confidence, teamwork, perseverance, and lifelong wellness habits during the years that movement habits are formed.
As a K-5 Health & PE Teacher, you will design and lead high-quality, standards-aligned instruction that engages every elementary scholar, regardless of athletic background. You’ll create an inclusive, structured, and joyful environment where K-5 scholars develop foundational motor skills, health knowledge, social-emotional skills, and a love for movement. When not in session with scholars, you will support school-wide operations to keep our campus running smoothly.

As a K-5 Health & Physical Education Teacher, you will:

Plan and deliver standards-aligned K-5 Health & PE instruction grounded in the SHAPE America National Standards and the Georgia Standards of Excellence for Health and Physical Education

Build foundational physical literacy in K-5 scholars through developmentally appropriate instruction in gross motor skills, locomotor patterns, manipulative skills, fitness concepts, cooperative games, and beginning team and individual activities

Deliver age-appropriate health education content as part of Georgia’s combined Health & PE program

Create a structured, safe, and inclusive environment where every scholar can participate and grow

Embed character development, teamwork, leadership, and perseverance into daily lessons

Assess scholar growth using fitness benchmarks, skill rubrics, and other formative tools

Differentiate instruction to support scholars with diverse abilities, including those with IEPs and 504 plans

Maintain equipment, facilities, and safety protocols in alignment with school and state standards

Support school-wide culture, arrival/dismissal duties, transitions, and family engagement events

Participate in coaching cycles, professional development, and grade-level planning

Support school-wide operations during non-instructional blocks — including arrival and dismissal duties, lunch and recess coverage, hallway transitions, family engagement events, and other operational needs as assigned

Build strong relationships with scholars, families, and staff

Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a passionate, creative, and mission-aligned educator who brings their content area to life for every scholar.
You’ll thrive in this role if you:

Believe in the potential of every scholar and are committed to equity

Bring energy, creativity, and joy to your classroom every day

Are reliable, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities

Communicate clearly and build positive relationships with scholars, families, and adults

Are coachable, reflective, and open to feedback

Thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment

Required Qualifications

Passing score on the GACE Health and Physical Education content assessment, or willingness to obtain prior to certification

Passing score on the GACE Ethics for Teachers Assessment

Completion of an FBI fingerprint-based criminal background check as required for employment in Georgia public, private, and charter schools

Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start)

Commitment to Movement Schools' mission, values, and high expectations for all scholars
