      <description><![CDATA[Position Overview: The Manager, State Media Relations is responsible for supporting Consumer Brands&rsquo; media relations efforts to tell a compelling industry narrative and advance the organization&rsquo;s state advocacy agenda. Reporting to the Director, Media Relations, this person will work as a strategic partner with the Director, as well as collaboratively with the communications team, spokespeople and issue experts to develop key messages, industry and executive thought-leadership opportunities and comprehensive earned media campaigns across a variety of priority issue areas. The ideal candidate has a media relations background with knowledge of state-level policy landscapes. 


This role is an individual contributor position and does not include formal people management responsibilities at this time.
 Key areas of responsibility:


Media Relations 




Develop and maintain relationships with reporters from traditional, industry trade, political and emerging media outlets in priority states. 






Develop and maintain key relationships with communications staff in targeted state legislative offices and key committees. 






Proactively build press awareness of industry campaigns, issues and events. 






Identify and elevate targeted media opportunities to increase brand awareness and profile of the association brand and its state lobbying team. 






Monitor state media environments and respond to breaking news. 




 


Media Communications 




Write talking points, press releases, media advisories, Op-Eds, letters to the editor, blog posts and executive briefing documents. 






Maintain an acute understanding of policy and industry issues including understanding their history, current activity and future developments. 






Collaborate across functions to develop key messaging on advocacy issues. 






Orchestrate and accompany spokespeople on interviews. 




 




Other 




Be proactive and creative in pitching ideas internally to breakthrough with key messages. 






Provide information, updates and background materials to Consumer Brands members, staff and stakeholders on all media matters. 






Create and update media lists. 






Track media coverage and update media tracker daily. 




 


 


 


Requirements:


Experience & Education  




Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Political Science or a related field. 






3+ years in media role or related work. 






Existing relationships with media preferred.  






Experience working in state politics is a plus. 






Good understanding of the current media landscape.

Superior project management skills including the ability to juggle multiple priorities and manage deadlines. 








Exceptional interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, effectively navigate conflict and build and maintain strong relationships with the media and other key stakeholders.

Strong understanding of Microsoft Office Suite and earned media tools such as Muckrack and Meltwater.  






Strong knowledge of AP Style.

      <description><![CDATA[Position Overview: The Manager, Communications plays a key role in advancing the association&rsquo;s mission by developing and executing strategic communications that strengthen the consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry&rsquo;s reputation, support the association&rsquo;s advocacy priorities, and increase engagement with key audiences. Reporting to the Vice President, Communications, this role manages content development and ensures communication efforts align with organizational goals. The ideal candidate is a strong writer, proactive strategist and collaborative team member with experience managing multiple communication channels and projects.  


 


Key areas of responsibility:


Strategic Communications 




Develop and implement comprehensive content strategies to support organizational priorities.  






Ensure consistent messaging across all platforms and audiences. 






Partner with cross functional teams and relevant subject matter experts to align communications with Public Affairs&rsquo; and Consumer Brands&rsquo; strategic objectives. 




 


Content Development & Storytelling 




Create and edit high-quality content, including, but not limited to, newsletters, blog posts, web copy, social media materials, and opinion editorials, in collaboration with team members. 






Develop executive and thought leadership content. 






Maintain an editorial calendar and manage content workflows. 






Identify and lead opportunities for research and polling in support of shaping the organization&rsquo;s perspective on key issues. 






Translate complex information into clear, engaging communications. 






 


Project & Team Collaboration 




Manage communication projects from concept through execution, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met. 






Coordinate with designers, vendors, and external partners as needed. 




 
Requirements:


Experience & Education  




Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Political Science, or a related field. 






3-5 years of communications experience, preferably in an association, nonprofit, or advocacy-focused organization.

The Consumer Brands Association is seeking a revenue-driven, strategic Business Development Manager to accelerate growth of our SmartLabel program&mdash;the CPG industry&rsquo;s leading platform for transparency and digital product disclosure. This role is perfect for someone who knows the CPG landscape, understands how companies think about labeling, compliance, and consumer trust, and has a proven track record of converting prospects into revenue. 


The Business Development Manager, SmartLabel, is responsible for driving revenue and expanding adoption of the SmartLabel program among CPG brands and industry partners. This role serves as a strategic, external-facing representative of Consumer Brands Association&rsquo;s transparency initiatives and plays a critical part in accelerating program growth. 


Working in partnership with the Senior Director, SmartLabel, the Business Development Manager will build a disciplined sales and outreach pipeline, cultivate new business opportunities, and position SmartLabel as the industry&rsquo;s leading transparency and digital labeling platform. The ideal candidate combines strong business development skills with an understanding of regulatory and advocacy benefits tied to consumer transparency, ingredient disclosure, and digital labeling innovation. 


 
What You&rsquo;ll Do: 




Drive revenue growth by building and managing a disciplined pipeline of prospective CPG brands and partners. 






Own the sales cycle end-to-end: research, outreach, pitching, follow-up, and closing. 






Clearly articulate the advocacy, regulatory, and brand trust benefits of joining SmartLabel. 






Represent SmartLabel at industry events, conferences, and partner meetings as a compelling external ambassador. 






Build and strengthen relationships with CPG companies, retailers, trade associations, and allied organizations. 






Partner with internal teams to create sharp sales materials, case studies, and messaging that support program growth. 




 
Key areas of responsibility:


Relationship Management & External Engagement 




Serve as a primary point of contact for both prospective and existing SmartLabel participants. 






Cultivate strong business relationships with CPG companies, allied trade associations, consumer groups, and other stakeholders. 






Represent SmartLabel at conferences, summits, trade shows, and partner events; confidently articulate the program&rsquo;s strategic, commercial, and advocacy benefits. 






Partner with Marketing to develop compelling case studies, success stories, one-pagers, and other materials that support recruitment and renewal. 






Program Development 




Own, create and execute an outreach strategy. Understand the market, the SmartLabel brand, and the benefits and pain points of the program to articulate a compelling value proposition for participating brands and prospects. 






Execute participant prospect development, including monitoring daily CPG news to identify new prospects, recording outreach, leading and drafting follow up and tracking company leadership changes. 






Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified prospective brands and intentionally move brands through the sales cycle. 






Develop a sales and opportunity pipeline of prospective companies enabling the achievement of sales goals and metrics. Maintain prospect pipeline and recruitment plan of prospective companies, including tracking outreach, drafting email correspondence and scheduling follow-up. 






Lead presentations, webinars, and discussions with prospective clients / participants, adapting content and tone based on audience function and seniority. 






Identify opportunities for SmartLabel to participate in new conferences or association events; recommend creative approaches to increase visibility and adoption. 






Report regularly on program growth metrics (pipeline volume, conversion, new brand participation, and event engagement).  




Requirements:


Experience & Education: 




BA/BS degree or equivalent relevant experience in marketing, business, or sales required. 






5-8+ years' experience in association, membership, business development, or stakeholder engagement roles, ideally within the consumer-packaged goods, regulatory, or marketing sectors. 






Experience with product labeling a plus. 






Experience representing organizations at conferences or events is strongly preferred. 






Experience in a start-up environment is a plus. 






Experience utilizing dedicated sales and CRM tools (such as Salesforce) desirable.  




Skills: 




Proven ability to drive revenue and meet or exceed sales goals. 






Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and the ability to translate insights into outreach strategies. 






Strong follow-up discipline and organizational rigor; able to manage multiple prospects simultaneously. 








Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
