The Role
We're looking for a Contract Marine Technician to join our Tampa Bay team. You'll operate as an independent field technician, executing service calls across Palmetto, Bradenton, Sarasota, Tampa, St. Petersburg, and surrounding waterfront communities. Work is scheduled, documented, and professionally managed &mdash; you focus on the boat, we handle the customer flow.
This is a contract (1099) position with flexible scheduling and compensation structured per job completed.

What You'll Do
- Perform scheduled outboard service at the 50, 100, and 200-hour manufacturer intervals (Yamaha and/or Mercury)
- Execute winterization and spring commissioning procedures at customer vessels
- Diagnose and repair mechanical issues in the field
- Support premium detailing services as needed
- Complete photo documentation and digital service reports after every job
- Represent the Full Throttle Marine brand with professionalism &mdash; uniformed, on time, and
  prepared
- Communicate clearly with the operations team on parts needs, scheduling, and job status

Requirements
- Certification required: Active certification from one or more of the following:
- ABYC (American Boat and Yacht Council) &mdash; Marine Technician certification
- Yamaha Marine &mdash; Certified Technician (YCT) or equivalent dealer training
- Mercury Marine &mdash; Certified Technician or equivalent factory training
- Minimum 2 years hands-on experience servicing outboard engines
- Strong working knowledge of Yamaha and/or Mercury outboard systems
- Reliable personal vehicle capable of transporting tools and equipment to job sites
- Ability to work independently and manage time across multiple daily service calls
- Professional appearance and strong customer-facing communication skills
- Valid Florida driver's license and clean driving record
- Must carry or be willing to obtain appropriate liability coverage

- Experience with 2-stroke and 4-stroke outboard platforms
- Familiarity with marine electrical systems, fuel delivery, and trim/tilt systems
- Experience working from a service skiff or dockside (water-side access preferred for some locations)
- Prior mobile service or field service experience

The First Coast corridor stretches from Jacksonville south through Ponte Vedra, Saint Augustine Beach, and the Saint Johns River basin&mdash;one of the most active recreational boating regions in Northeast Florida. The Intracoastal Waterway, Nassau Sound, and Saint Johns River deliver year-round boating volume with a customer base that matches our thriving Tampa Bay market.
Service Area Includes:

Saint Augustine & Saint Augustine Beach
Ponte Vedra Beach & Palm Valley
Jacksonville & Fleming Island
Amelia Island & Nassau Sound
Intracoastal Waterway and Saint Johns River corridors



What You'll Do

Perform scheduled outboard service at 50, 100, and 200 hour intervals per Yamaha and Mercury manufacturer specifications
Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on Yamaha and Mercury outboard engines
Perform winterization and spring commissioning services
Conduct premium detailing services when bundled with mechanical work
Deliver photo inspection reports to customers following every service call
Represent the Full Throttle Marine brand with professionalism at every dock



What You Bring
Required

Current ABYC certification OR Yamaha Marine certification OR Mercury Marine certification (or equivalent factory training)
Proven hands-on experience with Yamaha and/or Mercury outboard engines
Own tools and reliable transport to service locations
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong attention to detail and a customer-first mindset
Valid driver's license and clean driving record

Preferred

Multiple certifications (ABYC + OEM factory certification)
Experience across a range of outboard horsepower (25HP&ndash;400HP)
Familiarity with marine electronics and GPS/chartplotter systems
Experience with boat detailing and hull care
Existing knowledge of the Saint Johns River and Northeast Florida waterways
