Responsibilities:

The Education Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing policies, procedures and systematic processes related to the effective management of Early Head Start; or Head Start in the future, coordinating the day-to-day operational activities of all management and administrative partners working with Child360. He/she ensures compliance with program standards, contracts and regulations; analyzes data to make operational changes, and ensures high-quality delivery of services. Assures data is up to date in order to complete reports, create school readiness goals, and implement quality improvement plans as needed with the support of the Child360 team.

Daily Tasks

Education Supervisor

  • Provides day-to-day coordination of education services to ensure the best outcome for children
  • Plans, develops, and implements the agency’s education program, ensuring a comprehensive and integrated approach that meets the Head Start Performance Standards
  • Ensures on-going monitoring, tracking, follow-up and analysis of education services and child outcomes
  • Responsible for collecting data to create School Readiness goals and assures they are implemented and provides the partners with the support needed
  • Assists in evaluating services against contracts and ensures the program’s services and operations comply with contracts
  • Provides input on the development of program budget; reviews and approves payment of expenses for the program, ensuring compliance with approved budgets
  • Maintains record keeping and reporting systems, including, schedules, timelines, policies and procedures for education services in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards, and applicable laws and regulations
  • Gathers and analyzes program information and prepares routine and special reports for management decision-making
  • Assists EHS Director and others in evaluating the quality of services regularly and systematically to ensure all documentations and systems are in compliance with requirements
  • Participates in identifying the training needs of partner staff, program coach or coaches, and ensures training and/or other programs are implemented to ensure these needs are met; provides on the job training and support to staff, parents, and the community on a variety of pertinent topics in the area of early childhood education and developmentally appropriate practices
  • Represents the program at agency and community meetings; promotes Child 360goals and philosophies to staff
  • Maintains knowledge of program standards, management practices and policies as developed by Child360, licensing and other governing bodies
  • Maintains professional relationship with staff/families/caregivers and providers at all times
  • Responsible for providing coaching, mentoring and monitoring the services for all partners
  • Assures that Practiced Based Coaching and the Child360 Coaching approach is being implemented, uses strengths-based feedback when working with partners.
  • Provide guidance and leadership in the training, career development and evaluation of EHS Partners
  • Implements the Child360 Program Leadership Consultant model with EHS-CCP Partners
  • Represent Child360 and EHS-CCP out in the community
  • Maintain current knowledge of licensing regulations and respond to site visits from Community Care Licensing as needed
  • Maintain current knowledge in Child Development theory and best practice including program curriculums
  • Maintain current knowledge of all Head Start Performance Standards and funding regulations
  • Assess training needs of Child Development Supervisors, Disabilities Coordinators and Health Coordinator, plan and present workshops Identify opportunities to improve program services.
  • Plans and executes trainings for internal EHS staff, partners, and teachers
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge and Skills Requirements: 

  • Three to five years of progressive leadership experience
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations in fields relevant to position
  • Direct experience working with Head Start/Early Head Start programs
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Ability to learn computer software such as Ipinwheel, ChildPlus, TORSH, Sharepoint, Teams, DRDP-on line, and ASQ on line
  • Advanced Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards, The Head
    Start Act, Curriculums, DRDP, DRDP Tech, ASQ and ASQ-SE, CLASS-Infant, ECERS-R, and FCCERS
  • Advanced Knowledge of Title 22 Licensing Regulations and Title 5 Education Regulations
  • Knowledge of community programs including ability to develop and implement related policies and procedures
  • Ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced environment, while managing competing priorities
  • Ability to effectively communicate (both written and oral) with community members and groups, managers, regulatory agencies and families in both individual and group settings.
  • Ability to work effectively as a positive team member within a multicultural work group

Required Field/Travel: Up to 60%, as needed

Formal Education: Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology or related field.

Language proficiency: Proficient knowledge of English grammar required
