About the Position:

 

National Grid Renewables is seeking a Strategic Origination Intern for the summer of 2021. The intern will preferably be an MBA candidate, but applications are also being received for relevant undergraduate candidates. The Strategic Origination Internship is for an individual that is looking for a career experience in the renewables industry and is hungry to make a difference...as part of a great team of originators. This opportunity may be remote.

 

 

What you will be doing:

 

The intern will focus on one or two of the following areas, and present on their

 

  • Strategic Duties
    • Pull and analyze unique data for quarterly sales meetings
    • Competitive market assessment research
    • Retirements / Surplus Service data - looking at the data before announcements are made
    • Market fundamental analysis
    • Creating a bridge between Energy Storage and Origination
  • Basis Risk Assessment
    • Work with Transmission department and Fundamental Analysis team to quantify basis risk for our renewable energy projects
  • New Markets and Contract Structuring
    • Identify new types of customers for NG Renewables and detect which types of contract structures would be appealing to them
  • Sales 
    • Involvement in the Utility offtake discussions
    • Involvement in the Commercial & Industrial (C&I) offtake discussions

 

Additional duties include customer relationship management and contract management.

 

What you bring to this role:

 

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree(s) in Business, Business analytics, Economics, Finance, Public Policy, Electrical Engineering or Renewable Energy
  • MBA is not required but preferred
  • Knowledge of or experience in power markets industry
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel (Preferred: Netsuite and Microsoft Dynamics CRM)
  • Analytical-minded
  • Detail-oriented
  • Business-minded
  • Well-organized; multi-tasker
  • Strong written and oral communicator
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities
  • Quick, accurate, and consistent work
