Remote - Client is seeking a professional Network/Systems Engineer to support a Department of Defense (DoD) customer located in Washington, D.C. and Fort Detrick, MD. This position is considered a remote/telework position and may require occasional travel to the customer site.

The Network/Systems Engineer will be responsible for performing system/network/storage management, modernization, and sustainment tasks prior to and post migration to a Cloud architecture.

Network/Systems Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Support and maintain N Tier (Multi-Tier) Architecture and Common Operating Environment (COE), including web, application, and database layer for production, test, and development environments
  • Supports a 24x7x365 environment that may require on-call support
  • Support and maintain a high-performing network environment by sustaining connectivity to all wide area network (WAN), remote desktop, and virtual private network (VPN) services
  • Maintain and support a VPN to provide connectivity between JSP and Ft. Detrick’s data center
  • Support and secure site-to-site VPN access to a Remote Infrastructure via remote desktop protocol (RDP) (terminal server)
  • Assist in creating and submitting ports, protocols, and white-list requests to support strong, secure, uninterrupted access to resources and critical applications
  • Resolve network access and remote login issues
  • Support and maintain all existing and new centralized storage technologies for the enterprise network/systems
  • Support Dell EMC ESXi, VNX, and VxRail series of storage systems and hyper-converged appliances
  • Manage and support all aspects of cloud technologies, including compute, storage, networking, and virtualization
  • Support and maintain existing VMware® and storage Data Domain backups technologies
  • Provide subject matter expertise in using virtual machines (VMs) to design and implement solutions for data storage and maintenance
  • Upgrade storage software, apply patches, and ensure the physical security of data
  • Perform storage data backups per established policies and standards
  • Provide technology refresh and modernization
  • Role reports to the Team Lead or Project Manager
  • Responsibilities will include additional duties as deemed necessary

Network/Systems Engineer Requirements:

  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • CompTIA Security+ or equivalent DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II or higher certification (or ability to obtain)
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), VMware Certified, or EMC Certified, or equivalent with 5+ years’ experience may be substituted in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree
  • At least 5 years of experience using technologies (or equivalent), to include:
    • DellTM hardware including PowerEdgeTM blade servers and enclosures
    • Dell EMC VxRail hyper-converged appliance to include compute, storage, networking and virtualization Data Domain backup
    • VMware® technologies including ESXi 5 and above
    • Splunk technology for application management, security and compliance
    • LDAP and directory technologies including ForgeRock, Red Hat single sign-on, OpenAM and OpenD
    • IPSwitch MoveIt Central and DMZ and its APIs
    • Cisco switches and Routers
    • Verint Enterprise Feedback Manager
