OVERVIEW

The Associate Product Manager is a member of the Railing Category Product Management team for Fortress Building Products. This position will support the Railing team with administrative needs, quantitative product data, consumer/market feedback, organizing, planning, and implementing strategies for building and sustaining strong product categories, meeting market demands, and ensuring long-term financial success for the Railing category.

In addition to working closely with the Director, Railing Category and Railing Product Managers, the Associate Product Manager will engage directly with multiple departments including Channel Sales, Marketing, Innovations, Customer Order Fulfillment, Global Logistics & Planning, Global Sourcing & Manufacturing, Accounting, and the Senior Leadership team on a variety of initiatives. This position will report to the Director, Railing Category.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Daily tasks are primarily internal facing and in a support mindset
  • Responsible for contributing to the overall growth and success of the Railing category.
  • Directly support the Railing team with developing new products and maintaining existing product lines.
  • Conduct market research and various portfolio analysis. Provide recommendations on ways to drive results while understanding the current and future market for assigned product(s).
  • Develop and maintain a database which will include competitor information, market conditions and trends, as well as customer metrics.
  • Respond to and answer simple technical questions from the field. Help investigate and resolve day-to-day issues.
  • Find dimensions and drawings for Customer Care or Channel Sales teams.
  • Utilize Wrike to support the Railing team in the maintenance of stages and tasks within the Fortress Development process.
  • Support the Innovations team with product testing and conclusion review for next steps in the Fortress Development Process.
  • Keep track of factory pricing and raw materials updates.
  • Develop a practical understanding of Fortress price structures and keep track of established customer pricing.
  • Maintain customer pricelists, technical data sheets, warranty documents, and other Railing category collateral.
  • Update a customer’s COW with new items and pricing.
  • Own product part number maintenance by managing part numbers, UPC codes, product descriptions, and label database.
  • Work with the Marketing team to proof and help develop new Railing category collateral, labels, and item artwork.
  • Order inventory items for testing, trade shows, and special projects.
  • Work trade shows as applicable and lead efforts for planning and coordination.
  • Support the Railing team with creating and formatting reports for team meetings, field sales representatives, distributors, and the Senior Leadership team. Provide a weekly report to the Director, Railing Category.

Education/Experience/Additional Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or related field required
  • 1-2 years of experience in product management, product or channel marketing, or technical sales, preferably within the building materials industry
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to derive insights from analytical data
  • Ability to manage and execute projects on time
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Consistent, dependable, and positive work ethic a must
  • Demonstrated ability to be a team player and lead/participate in cross-functional teams
  • Strong technical / mechanical aptitude with the ability to learn our products
  • Strong ability with Microsoft Office – specifically Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with project management and collaboration tools (e.g. Wrike) a plus
  • Great Plains and Adobe Illustrator experience a plus
  • Willingness and ability to travel overnight up to 10% of the time
