Job Summary

Longenecker & Associates (L&A), a woman owned small business, has provided technical and management support to the Nuclear Energy Industry for over 30+ years. We have the immediate need for a Quality Assurance Engineer to contribute to the mission of Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). LANL is a multidisciplinary research institution dedicated to enhancing national security by ensuring the safety and reliability of the U.S. nuclear stockpile, developing technologies to reduce threats from weapons of mass destruction, and solving problems related to energy, environment, infrastructure, health, and global security concerns.

Level 3 is considered a skilled journeyman-level position. An ideal candidate has extensive experience in nuclear quality assurance, audits and surveillance experience, and supplier oversight. Candidates should have continuous improvement experience, including issues management, corrective and preventive action. A successful candidate is a high-energy, organized professional with excellent time management skills, highly flexible and adaptable, and seeks out challenging assignments.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities (may include, but are not limited to)

  • Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of processes, procedures and applications contributing to the overall objectives of maintaining an effective Quality Assurance (QA) program, including:
    • product and process design/verification,
    • product and process controls,
    • continuous improvement,
    • qualitative methods,
    • tools and design and analysis of experiments.
  • Frequently contributes to the development of new theories and methods,
  • Develops resolutions to complex problems that require the frequent use of creativity and where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors,
  • Erroneous decisions or recommendations would normally result in the inability to reach crucial organizational objectives and may have a prolonged effect, as well as result in the expenditure of substantial resources,
  • Work is accomplished without considerable direction,
  • May coordinate activities of other personnel,
  • Exerts significant latitude in determining objectives of assignment, and determines the methods and procedures needed for new assignments.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Q-level DOE clearance is preferred but not required,
  • Has wide-ranging experience, uses professional concepts and Laboratory objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways,
  • Considered expert in field within the organization,
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen; dual citizenship is not allowed.

Education and Experience Required

  • BS degree in engineering, quality assurance, industrial systems engineering, or related field and a minimum of 8 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience,
  • At this level, post-graduate coursework may be expected,
  • Additional consideration may be given to professionally recognized training and certifications in related fields.
